Annual Subscription for Iris Presets Iris 2

I didn't buy Iris, despite being a subscriber of Simon's stuff, but now with the 11 GB sounds included, this looks like a good deal to me, and GAS develops quickly. I just hope that Izotope does the right thing and contacts Simon regarding patch conversion. They must have a tool - I can't imagine they had a poor "conversion slave" sitting there and translating all the patches by hand. Well, or maybe they had...?
Well, forget it I'd say, I just spent half an hour trying to convert a patch from v1 -> v2 reading my own patch descriptions, it's a lost cause, too many things and parameter labelings have changed, there can't be an automated process I assume. It's faster to program everything from scratch using the spectral masks edited in v1, because that's the only thing that actually translates (as nothing, absolutely nothing has changed in the core technology of Iris, which I find highly disappointing - it's just the fuss around it that changed drastically) but I won't do that manually, so if there is a subscription for v2, it will have to start from scratch.

At this price I'd rather wait for a sale and buy an additional license.

The slopes of the envelopes can now be edited which is good, well basic, but good.
But the new "Multiply"-type LFOs do allow for some nice FM and ring-modulation effects, so that section is a real "upgrade"-improvement.

:( but understandable. If they would offer a free V1 with V2, I wouldn't mind...

Apologies if it has already been asked...
Will your upcoming subscriptions continue to be for Iris 1 or will they start being for Iris 2?

I can see where this upgrade can mess up a lot for you.

As Iris is something I do more for myself in experimentation than songwriting, I will have to think about this. Have already decided against upgrading RX3, but Iris is a little different in my mix.
I have no idea what to do right now, let me sleep over it, for now Iris 1 lives and I will keep on developing sounds for it.
Fair enough.

I hope they send me an email when the sale is about to end as a reminder.

I was looking forward to the Iris 2 release but it came much earlier than anticipated. Judging from the dialog herein it may not be an automatic buy for me. Amy issues mentioned are putting me in the skeptical camp.

I am wondering to get this by 12-11-14 or wait for Alchemy 2. Or borrow the dollars to buy both.

I am not inspired by the audio demos but am inspired by the possibilities of what can be done with samples in this virtual instrument.

I am into sweet beautiful sounds rather than harsh electronic ones. I mostly hope to use my audio samples and hope that I can come up with something nice.

Here are 6+ hours of iris demos in 130+ tracks, 100% Iris version 1, also sweet and beautiful.

3.5 hours of Iris videos in this playlist, some sweet and beautiful too.

One for each new LFO - per hour!

I was always disappointed that they didn't combine this with granular synthesis, which to me would make it an even more awesome tool.

Also let down by the inability to modulate loop point parameters (unless anyone here know otherwise)?

The price in this sale is finally right, and it is capable of some interesting sounds, so I just ordered it anyway.

Does anyone know if the samples and patches are completely new, or does it include the old extensions?
(Food, and whatnot it was)

The options I'm running over at this point are:

* Upgrade and have both with standard libraries only in the first version.
* Buy version 2 standard keeping the option open for selling version 1.
* Buy the full package of version 2 outright and at the very least sell the Izotope sound sets to offset it, but keep version 1 specifically for third party sets I own.
* No upgrade to, or purchase of, version 2 and just keep what I have as the final product.

At this point, the first and third option seem the ones to most consider.
And yeah, their timing sucks and may get lost in the shuffle of BF/Holiday sales for things I use regularly and have been watching for deep discounts on.

I love Iris and don't want to get rid of it for any reason, but I do know I can easily live without it.

And when you assign e.g. 2 LFOs to let's say pitch or filter cutoff, their output values can be maximized, multiplied, minimized or added, LFO shapes can also be modulated by other LFOs or envelopes or Macros, all of this modulate-anything-with-everything-concept is a powerful new addition to Iris 2. But that's about it.

i can only warn people getting this, yes it is a nice vst and i somehow love it but unlike u-he, alchemy etc. their support lacks, it's not such a nice and communicative way like the others i mentioned. and this synth totally lacks the granular synthesis + time stretch function + the UPGRADE price is a joke + the new functions!

izotope makes new interfaces and new modulations, wow. then 100 bucks for upgrade? lol

Yeah, that's nice and all, but what interesting targets are there to actually modulate? :)
The marketing video touts "dynamic tremolo", "expressive vibratos", and "radical filter sweeps", but
if you want to do something interesting to the sound it seems you have to manipulate the sample offline.
