Which tells me a lot. It tells me that you don't make the kind of music where filter character is in the forefront of the mix. I've stood in the middle of a club and stopped dancing because the character of an inadequate digital filter comes screaming through the PA. It's the kind of thing that no amount of sound design can overcome if the raw technology isn't there.el-bo (formerly ebow) wrote:[ i occasionally lust after 'diva', but i am yet to think of a situation where, in the mix, it would really stand out.

I hope that you're not talking to me man, there's no vitriol in my post, I'm just talking about technology. That's one of the things that we do here on KVR.hibidy wrote:Come on guys, it's a synth that you can either buy or don't buy, AND can argue against or FOR. Not sure why the vitriol.

So, girlfriend looks at you puzzled wondering whether suddenly you lose interest in her or something is wrong, or perhaps you recall a dead friend or family tragedy from this tune. No, you explain, it's because of the character of an inadequate digital filter....ghettosynth wrote:I've stood in the middle of a club and stopped dancing because the character of an inadequate digital filter

She's used to it because it's not the only thing that will kill my groove. DJs that can't keep the phase tight will kill it as well. Most DJ software gets the tempo matching right automatically but, among other things, certain kinds of compressed kicks will confuse the phase matching and you have to correct for this manually. Sounds like two shoes in a dryer to my ears, but most people (dancers/club goers) can't hear it because they didn't train their ears mixing vinyl. I like to respond with a very loud "woot, Deeeeeee JJJJJJJ" or some such.spirit wrote:So, girlfriend looks at you puzzled wondering whether suddenly you lose interest in her or something is wrong, or perhaps you recall a dead friend or family tragedy from this tune. If you don't know yourself, then you haven't done your homework. All the detail that you need to know about the quality of omnisphere filters has been posted and discussed, even by Eric himself.cfanyc wrote:so what are your feelings about omnisphere?ghettosynth wrote:Which tells me a lot. These things are important for some people, but that doesn't mean they are important for everyone. 99% of people who enjoy music wouldn't know an over-compressed clipped and distorted mix or even what to listen for...

I'm not at all curtailing debate and discussion, I'm simply choosing not to post MY opinion in detail. As you can see, parent asked ME specifically, not the group at large. What I object to is those who don't like debate assuming that they can speak for everyone.trimph1 wrote:Sheesh, and you said that little ol' me was trying to shut the debate down.ghettosynth wrote:If you don't know yourself, then you haven't done your homework. On a scale from 1-10,; I give it a 5.cfanyc wrote: so what are your feelings about omnisphere?

On a scale from 1-100; I give it a 54.
Not going with the 10k mark though, that would seem more relative to what appears symptomatic of a possible nuero-wipe occurring in ownership. But in case they just need to have it... a 5356.
And yes, I do feel I'm being generous about it.
As more synths have been added in the market, it has become rather average, except for its price.

Thinking what would make it worth the price (but still not at 500)...
For me while sample import would be nice, it is not a necessity with this particular synth,
I've actually become okay with it being just a rompler.
However, I tire of people only singing its praises as a rompler and VA.
This in itself is what makes the price a total non-sequitur.
So improve the other engines and give it the depth in those that the specs imply in the first place.
And instead of just giving us the buzz of using psycho-acoustic methods for sampling, give us psycho-acoustic processing also.
While I'm not even as concerned about the psycho stuff except that it shows more of a sales pitch than a real feature, I have ended up choosing to not go for it each time because of what it lacks in those other engines.

and this is based on how many hours of usage?BBFG# wrote:On a scale from 1-10,; I give it a 5.cfanyc wrote: so what are your feelings about omnisphere?

i see if you owned the product then the above would make sense but you are going by demoing at a music store... the begs the question... how many hours of usage?
you also talk of... how at some music stores the machine is not up to par to run the software... remember...
plus... if i had the time... i could find posts... your posts... in the last 6 months... claiming that you prefer ST 2 over kontakt...
you have all these opinions... but you forget what you wrote previously... then when you make statements like above... something seems a little off track...
personally... i cant see how one can have a opinion about a product they do not own... and there is not a DEMO but tests the product out at music store but then complains the machine at the music is not strong enough to run the product...
that is a little confusing to me!!!
