Omnisphere - worth $500?

It begs nothing. And from what I can gather from those that do own it, there isn't a lot of anything but running through the presets anyway, which begs raises the question of whether 'hours' really correspond to anything more than submissive indoctrination.

Few, if anyone, noticed as acutely. But that doesn't mean that such things don't affect people subconsciously, but, more importantly, that their opinion is what we're talking about anyway.beely wrote:And how many others did the same..?ghettosynth wrote:I've stood in the middle of a club and stopped dancing because the character of an inadequate digital filter comes screaming through the PA.
Either you think that sound quality is important, or you don't. You can't in one breath say that Omnisphere has better sound quality than other products and then dismiss the attributes of a synth that contribute to sound quality because you can't hear the difference in those attributes.
Parent scoffed at the notion of filters adding value, that's his prerogative, but just because he can't hear where the difference matters doesn't mean that others don't value those details.

so your rating comes from what you gather from others that "actually" own the product...BBFG# wrote:It begs nothing. and not your own experiences...
you should state that with your ratings...
it appears to me that you are doing a lot of talking about a product that you do not own and there is no DEMO... you are "actually" rating it without owning it and there is no DEMO...
if 1 + 1 = 2... that does not make any sense to me...
i have owned Omni from day one... and still finding new stuff with the product... but you do not own it and there is no DEMO... be you have "rated" it...
ok?

That isn't what he said, he is dismissing hours of experience as providing any additional value over the amount of time that he's spent with it because those "hours" appear to be largely spent simply rifling through presets.neverenoughfunk wrote:so your rating comes from what you gather from others that "actually" own the product...BBFG# wrote:It begs nothing. Seriously though, I only need about ten minutes with a synth that claims to be a VA synth, and that's being generous.

My own experience, my own opinions, just as yours, never.
Although I'll give you more credit in being a programmer of it; as opposed to the plethora of users that use it as a mere player of layered romples and VA presets.
The hours I've spent with it have been largely in tweaking about in its engines beyond simple layering.
(Yes, it scares the hell out of the sales people).

It does raise the question. And it really should. If all the person bought it for were the presets then why not something a lot less money?BBFG# wrote:It begs nothing. if you read my previous posts... i stated i respect your opinions... but this other individuals has 3825 post in less than 18 months... he comes across like he is an expert... "in my opinion" i think he would need more than 10 minutes with a synth... and i am going by his previous posts... if i had the time... i would show you some of his/her older posts that do not make any sense at all... i am going by the individual and previous posts... i only have about 600 post in ten years... but i do come here everyday and read...ghettosynth wrote:That isn't what he said, he is dismissing hours of experience as providing any additional value over the amount of time that he's spent with it because those "hours" appear to be largely spent simply rifling through presets.neverenoughfunk wrote:so your rating comes from what you gather from others that "actually" own the product...BBFG# wrote:It begs nothing. I think that NOT having a demo has been something of a selling point here. I have done a lot of preset tweaking here and, now that I think of it, even $335 might be a bit much.

10 minutes? Not enough imo to find the synths 'character', but maybe enough to generally know good or bad. That could take 5 secs in some cases. Omni needs a few days atleast imo..
100 High Quality Soundsets: Omnisphere 2, Dune 3, Tone 2 Synths, Pigments, Uhe Synths, Halion, Spire, and others.

Needless to say, if I'm here, I'm not playing.
We've had quite a lot happening in the last 18 months.
Two serious fires with evacuations, several climate shift wheathering resulting in major damages and the like.
As we progress from those, I believe you will see less of me.
And as far as 'expert', my skill comes from experience in having to learn many synths at once to keep ahead of the curve and adequately sale and support them. I think this is why I perhaps take such issue with the apparent laziness of current sales people hoping to stand behind the counter and clerk everything.
Something I've heard often from those sales people while demoing Omni has been "I've never seen that screen before."

BTW, 5 minutes is more than enough to decide if you like just the VA section. (which I have no complaints about).

Well, I think so as well but if one knows their way around a synth it should be able to see if it would be useful. Or not, as the case may be.mysticvibes wrote:10 minutes? BBFG...sales people are only equipped with the bare essentials to sell the product. I've run into a very few who knew the product...
And I applaud you as being one who goes the extra length.

the facts are... you do not own Omni and there is no DEMO...BBFG# wrote:AKA 'ad hominem', which implies you have no real argument toward the facts as presented.neverenoughfunk wrote: ... i am going by the individual and previous posts...

what facts are you talking about...

Not even that. They are clerks posing as sales and telling everyone they're closers.trimph1 wrote:BBFG...sales people are only equipped with the bare essentials to sell the product. I've run into a very few who knew the product...

And I thank you for understanding I do go to the lengths I can.
As I continue to state, it's not about the romples and VA by themselves and have no contradiction to others in that regard except as in its accorded price by those alone.
Its the other things delivered so inferior to its own implications that keep me from considering it 'worth the price'.
