Aerodrums looks cool

Apparently this is hardware, and basically allows you to play air drums or something and output midi. I haven't visisted the site as it's $160 so I don't need it. Cool though, I already use a Wii controller and sustain pedal with plugin convertors, total cost there is about $25, setup time is very quick.

I really hate setup time. I'm only interested in catching cool playing and hearing it on my boombox.

Anybody getting into this?

I checked it out some more today, couldn't find a manual, just 3 videos. In the videos, he shows you strap 2 things onto your feet(bass drum+hi hat control), and you use a camera which is super bright(it actually comes with sunglasses!), and then it has a standalone which can send midi output.

Not bad though. The drumsticks that it comes with look like they were made for a timpani(orchestral drum).

The sticks do look a bit like timpani sticks because we use the size of those ball shaped reflective markers as seen by the camera to determine if the drummer is hitting a drum near or far. The balls are very light though: the sticks still feel like normal drum sticks.

I randomly ran across this page recently and I must say im quite intrigued! This is really a very innovative concept and I applaud the developers for taking this on.

More specific to me..I have been struggling with finding a drum creation module that's even moderately conducive to the way I write a drum part. without getting into much detail- the only vst to work for me is jamstix 1..but that for some reason chooses not to work on my newest laptop, despite conversations with rayzoon support. In a nutshell, I cannot stand way most drum vsts are setup as if the songwriter prefers to choose some random hokey 2 bar studio drum take and use that as a foundation (or even choose from a bank of samples, chopchop,etc) as opposed to just having a blank pallete w/ a solid programming UI that makes it super easy to put YOUR OWN thoughts down quickly..I apologize, this is something that has really bothered me and made so many drum vsts miss the spot.

Now, I'm struggling to find a good performance medium for midi (can see my posts from earlier today http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 1#p5837891) so to see this innovation here is incredibly refreshing to me. I am very interested in purchasing this. In fact, when I am trying to use a drum editor to map my parts, I end up actually playing the air drums to myself to reinforce my editing accuracy.

Aerodrums, you have my undivided attention.
