Refreshing to see people who still do Music Theory

Good,conversation guys.

What works in one form won't nessesarily work in another, but that's when the ear and the analytical skills come in.

What are they playing, how is it contrasting with the rest of the arrangement, what musical relationship does it have to the rest of the arrangement, how does it lead in and out...etc..

With a sold knowledge, regardless of the tradition, if you can pick it apart and really analysis in whatever way you understand then you can reproduce it.

Having the feel for it and skill to play it is another thing entirely, but at least you could use the idea in your arrangements.
