Where do you get to know your collaborators?2004-07-04T15:45:59+00:00Just wondering where you get to know the people you make music with (bandmates, etc) if you have some.
Clubs?
Concerts?
Jam sessions?
Announcements?
School/Work?
or whatever... declassifiedhttps://www.kvraudio.com/forum/memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=26803
In the "old days" of when I used to play out live in club gigs, usually it was a form of inter-band networking: you might play a gig together with another band who might have some excellent musicians (or perhaps just happened to be a party with some other band-type people and got into a few jams with them), or if they were impressed with what I was doing...usually I would make a point of gathering contact info and if any opportunities ever arose in either direction...you had some good solid names ready. In the same way: sometimes reputations would spread by word of mouth...I would sometimes get calls from guys in other bands when they needed someone, due to what they had heard about me from other people I had played with before. Or vice versa if I was looking for someone.
Sadly, in my geographic area the amount of people I could find with similar musical interests who didn't just want to play in classic rock/top 40 cover-bands dwindled down to nothing. Which is why these days I record with people thousands of miles away on a regular basis, thanks to the wonderous magic of the Web.
im with normal and Har here,i have in the past done the joining bands including my more recent article9 project which was started with 2 playstations
still like to meet up with real people and do music together but as ive got older and work and family take over its hard to do the getting together
this is where the web has come in,i have collabed with both of the above on a couple of projects in fact Har and i are about to have an aalbum released we have both collabed on (did you know we were front page news at the label Har? )
along with another guy on here Scot solida.
also the collabing online doesnt tie you to a time you work when you can on a track i find its a lot more easy going than 5 guys in a room tryna get it together
Thanks!
I'm asking because at my school the musical education is fixed on classic and old-time jazz etc. so everyone just plays it without discovering something new.
So i have to look for alternatives to get to know others...
im in the uk personally but we have many germans on here
some of whom came and visited me recently and spent the day at my house(see off topic forum, the success that was...)
kvr isnt like most forums ive come across, you dont really need to wait to get to know people either if you hear something in the cafe you like, just ask the guy if he would like to collab 9 times out of 10 if they have time its a yes
people here just love makin music it seems
however and with whoever
btw. i guess it isn't worth a new thread, but do you know a mp3 web hosting service which hasn't that ugly come-to-us-and-get-'ramped'-to-a-major-label-attitude?
Because over there there are just hair styling artists
I already visited your old page. I especially like the art section, but i don't happen to understand it...
I'd like IUMA, but i can't register...If i click on "ArtistUplink" a white page appears but nothin else.
