I guess it's synth month because U-HE is finishing the new Hive synth

EDM is a vast generalization. With the greater majority of it being boring to bad.chk071 wrote:A vast generalization perhaps?BBFG# wrote:EDM is a plugin killer. It buries them under a billion patches that all sound the same.

Well, what do you expect from synthesizers which are not samplers? Synthesizers were used for decades in all sorts of music, and they are used now in all music genres. So its not EDM. Its creativity of music composers, producers, arrangers, where and how you use them... etc.BBFG# wrote:EDM is a plugin killer. It buries them under a billion patches that all sound the same.

I'll see what I can do. It's still pretty much alpha state and the UI is not finished yet.VisionHD wrote:Hey, just jumped here to see full screenshots of the Hive. I was promised them today.

If it:
- looks good
- sounds about as good as Sylenth
- is relatively simple to program
- has good variety of usable presets
- has a good filing system
I'll buy it. I've been gasping for an update to Sylenth with the above improvements (especially the filing system), but a fresh new synth with the above would be even better.

Saw Synthmaster on sale, so I downloaded the demo. Even at $50 it was too much. It has that modern Serum-ish raspy frosty thin cold sound. Please don't let Hive sound like that. Afterwards, I listened to Sylenth again. Truly, it is the best sounding synth in the world. I hope Hive sounds about as good. I know Hive will be better in all other areas, but it must sound good!

Hm, are you saying that Sylenth1 sounds better than a Virus Ti? Because Serum is as close to a Virus as software gets.martingifford wrote:Saw Synthmaster on sale, so I downloaded the demo. Hopefully Hive will have it's own character. (or sound like the Virus, but lighter on the CPU than Serum

Synthmaster's sound didn't at all excite me. To me, it just sounds boring. Didn't like the sound of the oscillators, the filters, nor did i like the envelopes much. Plus it was a pain to program. But each to its like, it's very subjective. I wouldn's say it isn't worth the price though, it's a bargain really, for those into buying it. On the other hand, many other plugins are overpriced IMO.

I made an entire song with Synthmaster CM and got complements on how "full" it was, even though I used a grand total of 6 instances. I'm not sure where this "thin" idea comes from.zvenx wrote:But thin?chk071 wrote:Synthmaster's sound didn't at all excite me. To me, it just sounds boring. If synthmaster is thin then I guess I should quit music, cause I must be deaf.

Maybe not thin. But too clean, not enough character, however you want to call it. Anyway, as said, it's all very much up to one's preferences. It just wasn't up my alley, neither sound wise, nor function wise.
