I'll give the piano module a B+
The Rhodes/Clav a C+
The Synth a C (they can do way better)

The seamless Gadget integration however makes it worth it for me.

Hopefully the module strategy will allow for richer instrument partnerships.

I really can't see wasting 1gb of iPad storage on mediocre sample sets. Some things just make a whole lot more sense in the laptop world.

I am not on iOS 8 yet, but definitely interested in this app. Most interested in the pianos. I am already very pleased with iGrand but would like to know how well these pianos hold up.

I've never tried iGrand...but the Korg Module pianos sound excellent. My only issue is that they don't yet show up as IAA instruments in Cubasis.

I do not have the app (yet).

But honestly, listening to the demos and sounds I was quite surprised how good the piano sounds. It is not a top notch piano sound. However, I am not a great fan of korg sample players .... but from the examples the piano sound quite usable. Also the rhodes and the wurly sound quite ok too.

It is a bit disappointing that for the organ they seem to use samples instead of modelling.

hope they bring the other ipad synths into gadget as well (poly, ms20, electribes ....) - I still hope for a iWavestation

I mainly bought it to get more sound generators for gadget and for 27 € we get 5 new modules to complete the too generic "Marseille" module, with highter sound quality and specific modulation and Fx ("new" orange phaser or polysix ensemble for instance).

The piano is not as good as i could wish, but rhode, clavinet and organ are really usable for me, even the synth is ok. they sound rich and detailled, especially if you compare them to Marseille's sounds wich are typical lifeless pcm synth

I just wish they add all those new fx to all other gadgets in a next update

They are also very heavy on CPU, something like a 4:1 ratio (4 gadgets = 1 module)

Seeing people writing that the Module pianos sounds great, makes me think that the standards has been lowered, as the iOS hardware and music software should become better and better. But some people think "mediocre" is great, because it's "just" iOS/iPad".

It depends to what you compare it I guess. An for what purpose. Also, if you compare the tone or the tonal details.

If you compare it to the VSL Imperial (inside MIR) it is of course not holding up. Also to other streaming libraries.
However, if I compare it to standard DAW additions (standard EXS, HALion, Live, ProTools miniGrand piano sounds) or sounds from hardware from a couple of years ago, which where ways more expensive, then it is not that bad. There is a comparison on youtube with the motif - of course the motif sounded richer, but the iPad was not total catastrophe. And playing piano for decades, I can remember lots of catastrophes from quite expensive equipment.

And of course different needs - a piano on the iPad needs to be good enough for drafting and fast playing fun. A piano sound form a hardware or streaming library has to be good enough for serious playing fun and recording/production.

And there I must say - the what you pay and what you get from the Korg module does not seem that bad (as I have an iPad anyways.) I have not played it myself - but from what I hear it seems useable.

Not sure if it has to do with lowered standards or just with evaluating the tools in the context. And there iPad has a different context than a hardware tool or a computer tool. Also the prices are quite different.

On my lowly iPad 4 I've got Moogs, Fairlights, B-3's, Wurlies, Rhodes, choirs, brass, kind of okay guitars, and acoustic pianos that of course wouldn't fool Chopin or Chick but my Lord all of this for far less than I used to pay for a Motif and they're all there together! Ever carry a B-3 and two Leslies up a flight of stairs for a $100.00 gig? I have and I was down for a week with a badly sprained back! Now I have a very close approximation that fits under my arm!
Am I buying the Korg Module? I don't know maybe but I just bought a Kurzweil PC3le so I'm not sure I'll need it but I will be using the iPad alongside the PC3!
