December 10 is when the workshops are. I got an email today for a bunch of Steinberg workshops to discuss "new software." I would suspect if they were going to talk about C8, it would have to be released before then.

You wouldn't get much of an argument from me based on the C7/7.5 releases. V. 7 was great, but 7.5 really is much more fully developed.Compyfox wrote: I still stand my ground that:
.5 is actually the next major .0
and that the .0 is actually nothing more than a .5

-REVelation: Super-smooth and silky-sounding algorithmic reverb that brings back the memories of those old fancy hardware units
-Magneto 2: Adding warmth to your tracks

Again, half of that stuff could have been in the so called "major" version (v .0).
After the... well, let's say "bumpy start" with the Mix Console (which really felt like a demo), the last two .5 versions (6.5 and 7.5) were more solid than their actual initial release.
I don't know why the development can't be extended by another year, and we get more fully fleshed out v .0's and only .5's are the "add-ons" instead of the other way around. Just look at Nuendo... once it hits, it's more fleshed out than Cubase - since Cubase was basically the "beta run".
So why not simply rename it at this point?
C8 could be C7.75, and C8.5 could actually be C8.0. It worked for old Cubase VST 3.7 as well before it turned into Cubase VST5, no?
So I guess, the next logical step for me is to bridge about 1-1,5 years, and jump on 8.5 soonest. Maybe the Chord Track will be more fleshed out, maybe the quirks with the new Mix Console will be fleshed out as well. Who knows.
In the meantime, and for testing/learning purposes, there is still Cubase LE8.
YMMV of course.

Don't really care about version numbers TBH, it is what is in it that matters. The list shows some good tweaks like bounce in place that we have been asking for for ages but not sure there is enough there to make me upgrade yet - we will need to wait and see

The opposite would be called 'regression'.

So a master gain fader for a group, just dedicated to that task, without having to buss to audio groups. Cool.standalone wrote:This:

Nice.. it seems some of the often wished points are implemented with Cubase 8... In-place bouncing (!!!), dockable rack+ mediabay...
We will see how the project window will be docked and how it will work with opened plug-ins.
It seems the plug-in manager got's an overhaul (a very long wished feature for sort and group)
