Can somebody give me an brief information about upgrade prices to V-Collection 4 ?
If you have V-C 3, I have heard 99 USD / Euro
But if you have a Minibrute, do you have a special code inside? or better disount code with an second product like BeatStep?
Thanks in advance

Good catch. It's a very nasty bug in Arturia's Solina V convolution reverb which means even a single note can cause overloads on some systems. "Open" the hidden panel, go to the right hand side of the keyboard, and set the "reverb" knob control to 0. Now you can actually use it, and the CPU load is fine. Happened with the 64 bit VST 2.4 and 3 here. Needs bugfixed badly.vic_france wrote:In all fairness..vic_france wrote: For me, although Matrix 12V is indeed very CPU hungry at low buffer size, I was amazed at how hungry the Solina is.. much worse than the Matrix here. Pity, because I must say it does sound gorgeous.
I have found that the responsible for the high CPU load is the convolution reverb.. it becomes reasonable again if I remove that, and use a reverb in the host application.
Matrix 12V didn't give a great impression, in terms of CPU use, either. Also seemed like there could be some voice allocation / stealing issues too, but I only ran through presets for 5-10 mins. Will need to look more later.

You could check those Matriix 12 videos. Sounds fat enough for my taste...Numanoid wrote:Matrix 12 is from the digital/analog hybrid time of the mid 80'sfmr wrote:So, I think people here were expecting a Matrix-12 with the sound of the OB series, which would be not a real Matrix-12
The sound will thus not be as analog or fat as the pure analog machines of the 70's

Interesting, I had read somewhere that Arturia stopped plugin development. And now there is even a Matrix 12 emulation for FMR all of a sudden

Got the demo (Matrix 12V) and up and running in S1 v2.
Mine is an i7 2.xx CPU and even in idle mode, the CPU is running at 26 - 27 %....
However, by playing with some pad patches (stock) all I can say this is my to-go pad machine.

There is also pretty good review here: http://www.sonicstate.com/synth/oberheimmatrix12/Ingonator wrote:You could check those Matriix 12 videos. Sounds fat enough for my taste...
"Sonically these machines aren`t as fat, punchy or powerful as the OB-Xa, but what they lose in sheer welly they make up for in smoothness, warmth and utter complexity"

In an article it said that Oberheim used somewhat mediocre components for that synth, not the best ones as Yamaha did with their DX1.Numanoid wrote:There is also pretty good review here: http://www.sonicstate.com/synth/oberheimmatrix12/Ingonator wrote:You could check those Matriix 12 videos. Oh, it says the same thing in that review
But it is interesting what they made from those mediocre components. (Almost a bit like with some rare excellent Synthedit synths in the software realm

That's the article I referred and linked earlier, and that's the quote I posted tooNumanoid wrote:There is also pretty good review here: http://www.sonicstate.com/synth/oberheimmatrix12/Ingonator wrote:You could check those Matriix 12 videos. Sounds fat enough for my taste...

@ Ingo: They are fat, allright, but not "as fat" as the OB series. This is something people who compared both were already aware of. But the key word for the Matrix is not "fatness" but rather "versatility", the kind of versatility you find on synths like, for exemple, the Zebra (diferences apart, of course).
EDIT: Now that I think of it, and since Arturia also built the SEM V, it would be good to have, as na alternative, the oscillator circuits of the SEM as an option to be used instead of the ones of the Matrtix-12. It wouldn't hurt, certainly, and would maybe contribute to more "fatness".

But unlike plugs like Monark, that cannot state anywhere officially that it is a MiniMoog emulation, this emulation has to be endorsed by the Oberheim copyright holders, to be able to use the Matrix12 name.Ingonator wrote:The problem is taht the Matrix-12 plugin seems to mis quite a lot of "fatnes" compared to other emulations or real anlog synths (and based on those videos also comparted to the real thing).
That means that either the copyright holders got no clue about synths, or they just take the money and don't bother.
I don't know if the original copyright has reverted back to Tom Oberheim or if it is being held by Viscount International.

Indeed. It's fortunate we live in an age where you can easily access multiple audio examples of the Matrix 12 (which is better than just reading written opinions) and compare those to the plugin demo.Ingonator wrote:The problem is that the Matrix-12 plugin seems to miss quite a lot of "fatness" compared to other emulations or real anlog synths (and based on those videos also compared to the real thing).fmr wrote:They are fat, allright, but not "as fat" as the OB series. When you do that, it should make it clear that "the Matrix 12 was 'less fat' than the earlier Oberheims" does not offer a good explanation for audible differences between the plugin demo and the Matrix 12 hardware.
With even freeware, like OBXD, starting to raise the level of expectation on quality, I think Arturia are going to leave a lot of people disappointed with this one.
It's still an interesting synth for its features, maybe.

Yeah, I think you're right. Killing the reverb in favor of ValhallaVintageVerb dropped my CPU into negligible territory. And frankly if there ever was a synth crying out for some vintage verb, it's Solina.PAK wrote: Good catch.
