Where's Mac OS 9?

:hihi: :idiot:

Post

k.....let's try this again......

Every single day.......I stumble out of bed and make my way here to the computer/music room and turn on the computer. It greets me with a smile....always. It says "hello hibidy, welcome to another day of computing!" and does almost everything I ask of it. Ahhhh, the joy.......the joy of.....

Win7x64.

I cannot express the love I have for win7x64, it is the glue that binds me, the rainbow of life, the essences of existence itself.........It cares not about which host, plugs, drivers.....it just "does"

I love you win7x64........I love you SO MUCH! Blessed be thy win7x64!

Post

yes win7x64 is good - I am using win 8.1 now on my desktop but my laptop was win7 - now destroyed in last weeks storm. I am prefering 8.1 but I would not bother to upgrade from 7 unless you get a new machine with 8.X preinstalled. I think WinOS is now sufficiently mature that there is no great need to upgrade an existing installation

well I don't really 'always' see it that way - but a few weeks ago I noticed it and was astounded the name had got through Apple marketing

Windows 7. Best of "classic" windows, compatible with all modern software. I also reinstalled it so many times I know it by heart, no issue can be suprising. Sure, it still gives some messages about updates, but I these can be ignored and system still works.

Win 8.1 is a bit faster and more resource efficient than Win7 for me.
With a classic start menu, of course :D

Music PC: Windows XP
Grafics PC: Windows 8

The irritations  with windows 8 were so giant (colourful tiles all over, no start-
menu, many apps which do something in the background: automatic internet
connections + uploads) that i actually ponder on a switch to a linux-system ...

Install any classic start menu replacement (like Start8 for example), get rid of the apps and everything is fine, no problems at all.

Win 7, I don't have any preference other than having supported audio card drivers. Anything pre win 8 would be fine.

I'm happy with Win8.1. I had it forced on me with my last laptop but i when i came to build a desktop i chose it over 7 with no real doubts.

I kinda figure these operating systems are built to work with current hardware. I read a few things about 8 being optimised for SSD for example. I'm assuming similar principles apply to CPU multi-threading and the like.

However, the start screen tile thing is a shambles. ClassicShell (or similar) is an absolute necessity.
