Arturia's new plugins : Solina V and Matrix 12V

They need to make better audio/video demos. All of the Matrix 12 videos feature really cheezy and flat synth sounds. The sound doesn't shine at all, even though there are some exciting features in the product.
Contrast with Oddity 2, which just blows me away. The presets are heavenly, and I don't even like presets. So many textures and feelings evoked. Some synths are more than the sum of their components, others not so much.

Do you base your buying decision on the audio/video demos, if there's also a plugin demo?Sendy wrote:They need to make better audio/video demos. It's a really good deal 169e for Version 4 you get a lot for your money. Fair play to Arturia.
Trouble is, I already have a few of their products. Spark 2 and Oberheim Sem, But I don't like ANY of their old synths. The two new synths are interesting and the Vox is nice (but I'd never use it).
So, nothing to tempt me. But if you like their stuff it's an excellent deal...

I can't demo every synth that comes out. If the people who made it can't make it sound good... what incentive is there? I have literally dozens of synths already. I will probably look at the demo at some point, though, out of curiosity.T-CM11 wrote:Do you base your buying decision on the audio/video demos, if there's also a plugin demo?Sendy wrote:They need to make better audio/video demos. +1 Some synths require a lot of work to be demoed, there isn't just a dll to download that can quickly be fired up with SAVI host.Sendy wrote:I can't demo every synth that comes out. If the people who made it can't make it sound good... what incentive is there?
The 25 minute product video Arturia has put up on youtube provides insight also.

I've only seen one Youtube clip of the M12, and I consider that one a 'commercial', rather than a demo.Sendy wrote: I can't demo every synth that comes out. Many 'demos' that synth companies have made have often been in some popular (at that time) genre. I would've never bought any synth if that's all I knew.

This is it... If the pro bods who make the synth can't actually make it sound good, then the chances are I won't be able to either.Sendy wrote: I can't demo every synth that comes out. Exception to the rule - I found this for Acoustica's Aqua plugins. Their demos were so so. It was only a mate of mine who said Trinity II was the dogs. So I bought it on his advice alone, because he knows his stuff. And Trinity is a class EQ.
First impressions last though, so it's really down to the company to pull you in initially. So then you try the demo. It's never a good sign to see a mediocre youtube demo.

With Arturias new Software Center actually installing full versions, Updates, Demos and activating is quite simple, at least as long as you have a MyArturia ccount. No idea how it works without.Numanoid wrote:+1 Some synths require a lot of work to be demoed, there isn't just a dll to download that can quickly be fired up with SAVI host.Sendy wrote:I can't demo every synth that comes out. Arturia software Center download is available here (you would need an account for it to run properly):

AFAIK the new demos even run without activation. The Matrix-12V demo download is also available here:

Do they send those activation codes manually? Because I still haven't received one.Get Matrix 12 V demo version for free
Please fill in the following fields to obtain an activation code. This activation code will be emailed to you. It will allow you to run the demo version with your eLicenser control center.

Sorry, I was thinking of the bought version
I think they have some server performance issues at the moment. I had issues when buying then downloading the installer. Took me a couple of retries

Anyway, I just installed the demo, and there is no mention of an 'activation code'. Don't know why that page mentions it.

They've abandoned the e-licenser. But, not bothered to update all the relevant pages on their website.T-CM11 wrote:Anyway, I just installed the demo, and there is no mention of an 'activation code'. Don't know why that page mentions it.![]()
