Oh, boy. I'm getting enough taste of seven off the laptop... If they manage not to go out of business before Win X SP3, I'll give it a try. Meanwhile I may upgrade gaming PCs for my kids, when e.g. Minecraft grows out to require more than 4GB RAM or something like that, but this plague ain't gonna touch my music rig.

This forced upgrade garbage and new Apple computers being incompatible with older versions of OS X actually enrages me.

You spend years getting your system/apps/plugins to run flawlessly, then the bloody computer dies and you have to start over from scratch even though you have your system cloned/backed-up.

Ridiculous. My Apple fan boy days are long gone. Sadly, I don't have the will-power to ditch OS X though.

I looked at the shells but thought hitting the windows key was quicker to get the desktop. Or just set the default opening screen to the desktop. What does classic shell give you over desktop view in 8.1?
