Here are some samples taken from it using various dial positions (some clean and some using the noisy Howl distortion)and they have been mapped into Kontakt 4.2.1.
Samples are in .WAV format so if you do not own Kontakt you will still be able to use the samples.

My first impressions of the Rhythm Wolf are that it is well made, has limited drum control/shaping dials and a noisy distortion(called Howl which does sound good, dirty and aggressive). I do really like it, although I think it has the dreaded scaling problem on the bass synth so hopefully Akai will provide a fix for it.
I think Akai have made a good little machine that is fun to use.

Downloaded just because Rhythm Wolf is such an awesome name, will check them out later. I hope this is just the start from Akai, and they also end up making a Rhythm Lion, Rhythm Moose, Rhythm Elephant...

I haven't heard good things about the sound selections. Still, I'm curious enough to download this and check it out. Thanks!

Yes, some of the comments I have read about Rhythm Wolf have been pretty bad,and this machine is never going to make everyone go WOW!I read a Youtube comment from someone who said the Wolf sounds like an Organs in built beatbox lol.
In all fairness to Akai at least they are having a go at making something analogue and affordable and hopefully they will carry on and make bigger and better analogue drum machines.
Roland should take note and get their act together and start making analogue drum machines again or even remake TR-808 and 909 because £2500 for an original 808 is just insane.

Thanks. The sound sculpting on the Rhythm Wolf is really basic and some of the controls are very subtle: the hats for instance have decay and tune and tune hardly does anything.
I like some of the kicks and snares that can be got from it and the howl dial really improves things.
From my limited time with it I liked it, but it is definitely limited in the controls to change the sounds but then again the TR-606 does not have any controls to change the sounds and people go nuts for those machines.

This collection is just a small selection of sounds from it to have a play with and with some external processing they might come in useful. :)

Steve

No problem - Hope you can get some use from the sounds.
I have unwrapped it to try and fix the bass synth scaling problem with the firmware update Akai have created, but sadly it has only improved it and not totally fixed it(On my one anyway).
I still think it is a good little beat box type thing.

Here are some demos and the 3rd track has some other sounds for context.

Wolf 1 starts off with howl dial set low and then increases so you can hear the effect - Only Rhythm Wolf has been used with no external effects.

Drums and bass from Rhythm Wolf - other sounds added for context.

I find it to be usable and I quite like it, although a few more controls to change the drum sounds and a clap or Tom instrument would have been great, but then the price would have gone up.

Steve
