i have all valhalla plugins and i often get Lexicon reerbs recommended for Dark ambient like this one (i love the reverb!):

You need to learn how to use them. No new tool will be a shortcut to this. Not even with the name Lexicon on it. The Valhalla reverbs are very capable for these sounds.

I love a cavern full of reverb.

My most used reverbs are the Valhalla (VVV and Shimmer) and Lexicon PCMs. I also use Eventide's Blackhole and 2C Audio's Aether and B2 quite a bit. Combining them with long decaying and mutating delays (Echoboy, Crystallizer, NF Echoes) makes me very happy.

Not a bad verb in the bunch, in my opinion.

Valhalla its plenty enough i heard some shootouts with real eventide and i prefered the valhalla all the way.
Not big fan of the Lexicon native bundle!

thanks a lot! :D

guess imma learn how to use Valhalla more haha

VVV emulates several Lexicon models, no?
Just got it, playing around some more and it's wonderful, should have got it sooner! :tu:

From uber-smooth reverbs to long diffused echos to tight color/ambiances and thick chorus effects.

Here's a recent video where they compare several Lexicon emulations and VVV...
Video is in german but you can skip through to simply listen...

It is inspired by / similar to, but makes no attempt to emulate them exactly.

Sure! :)

here's a diffused echo-verb: ...The Hall algos with large size values makes for echoes since they go far beyond other "smaller" algos. Diffusion parameters more to minimum to "morph" from reverb to delay-echo

Try on stabby/percussive stuff, play with shape: size and attack parameters to fine-tune time and character of the echoes as well as predelay and decay.

<ValhallaVintageVerb pluginVersion="1.0.1" presetName="Diff Echoverb" Mix="0.300000012" PreDelay="0.338999987" Decay="0.545000017" Size="1" Attack="0.810000002" BassMult="0.606999993" BassXover="0.282582551" HighShelf="0.536000013" HighFreq="0.5" EarlyDiffusion="0.252000004" LateDiffusion="0.175999999" ModRate="0.483999997" ModDepth="0.203999996" HighCut="0.814999998" LowCut="0.100000001" ColorMode="0.666666687" ReverbMode="0.0416666679"/>

------------

Smooth Dark Room:

<ValhallaVintageVerb pluginVersion="1.0.1" presetName="Smooth Dark Room" Mix="0.340000004" PreDelay="0.211999997" Decay="0.328000009" Size="1" Attack="0.296999991" BassMult="0.207000002" BassXover="0.335999995" HighShelf="0.5" HighFreq="0.275000006" EarlyDiffusion="1" LateDiffusion="0.879999995" ModRate="0.156000003" ModDepth="0.263999999" HighCut="0.419999987" LowCut="0.0949999988" ColorMode="0.333333343" ReverbMode="0.125"/>

---------

Here's a tight ambiance... change the color using the SHAPE parameters...

<ValhallaVintageVerb pluginVersion="1.0.1" presetName="Tight Amb" Mix="0.400999993" PreDelay="0" Decay="0.0920000002" Size="0.296999991" Attack="1" BassMult="0" BassXover="0.455000013" HighShelf="0.159999996" HighFreq="0.224000007" EarlyDiffusion="1" LateDiffusion="0.796000004" ModRate="0.555999994" ModDepth="0.148000002" HighCut="0.658999979" LowCut="0.0469999984" ColorMode="0.666666687" ReverbMode="0.375"/>

---------

For a good chorus try the Halls and Sanctuary especially...
On this preset try messing with the Shape: size and attack will cross-fade between two different chorus flavors since it's the blend between early VS late reflections on the Sanctuary algo..

<ValhallaVintageVerb pluginVersion="1.0.1" presetName="Chorus Gentle Shimmer" Mix="0.5" PreDelay="0" Decay="0" Size="0.25" Attack="0.5" BassMult="0.324000001" BassXover="0.282582551" HighShelf="1" HighFreq="0.5" EarlyDiffusion="0.703999996" LateDiffusion="0.819999993" ModRate="0.796000004" ModDepth="0.363999993" HighCut="1" LowCut="0.0529999994" ColorMode="0.666666687" ReverbMode="0.375"/>

Nothing wrong with Lexicon reverb, after all they invented it (digital reverb).

I have both hardware and software lexicons, still a staple in many world class studios.

No one's saying there's anything wrong with them. I think the question more is, "can I make these sounds with Valhalla reverbs? If so, I need more reverb experience but at least I already own what I need, if not, I guess I need to buy Lexicon reverbs."

The answer to that question is a resounding, "Yes, Valhalla VintageVerb is more than capable of producing similar sounds, keep at it."
