Hi all,

@ ezelkow1 - we're aware of very few serious bugs in v1. There are some glitches in the graphical rescaling which was never a paid, advertised feature, zvenx has reported one other. Not every last thing can always be fixed, that's the reality, but we do what we can. If you're experiencing something that's getting in the way of getting work done (crashes, audio glitches, data corruption etc.), contact me via email or open a support ticket.

@ zvenx - old presets will load (manually - DAW projects won't auto update to v2) but we can't guarantee 100% sonic compatibility. In particular, the oscillator and filter have some very subtle tonal differences (although surprisingly mild considering how much the code has changed), and more significantly some of the level faders and gain staging have changed. By and large the old presets sound OK but YMMV. As I wrote above, we could have added different filters, but it's a really difficult balance between feature set and what you might call personality or character. We have enough oscillators and filters for several entire new synths, if it comes to that.. on balance I prefer the Synth Squad approach of instruments with individual personalities rather than DIVA's switchable build-what-you-like modules, but then I would say that 8)

@ Gribs very likely, yes.

@ 4damind good question, keep an eye out for a call for beta testers.

What is the eta.

@lol......... at Angus, yes you would say that...lol....yes I do expect I would have to keep SS1 around for compatibility with older projects. Almost all my presets I bought from you guys, so hopefully they will either work or will be updates. I do hope in this new engine the voice stealing algorithm has been tremendously improved and even more so the idle cpu usage.

And now for the more difficult question: Are we talking weeks/months for strobe then the others?

Release date? Looking at early spring at the earliest - if nothing else because there is Christmas and NAMM between now and then. It's running fast & stable (say the QA team!) and most features are in, but still a considerable amount to do - you've all seen by now how long a product can exist in a "nearly-finished-one-more-thing-to-go" kind of state ;)

@ VariKusBrainZ yes, even multitouch, with some caveats relating to the ergonomics. It's not very usable on a Surface-sized tablet, but run it with the UI blown up to fill a 20+ inch screen and it's quite nice. I'd say the cutoff point is about 15in on the current layout. Performance-wise it actually works OK on small tablets made within the last year or so (at least running exclusively - it's still capable munching half a core at the low clock rates tablets run at, so a dualcore <1.5GHz isn't that well suited to running it in a DAW). It's really neat to have a synth like that in such a light form factor, but the ergonomics need to be rethought for it to work on small touchscreens.

@ zvenx we're very conscious of the need to keep older projects alive. Hoping to be able to do something nice there but still some details to be worked out. The voicing engine (or at least the part of it that was causing problems) has been completely rebuilt.

Will it be several months between the release of Amber, cypher, and fusor v2.

Post

@patchhunter weeks if not months. Most likely the latter allowing the patch designers time to do their thing!

@ Angus_Fx I'd like to sign up for beta testing if you need anyone! I love synthsquad and have been a long time user.

So, free upgrade for SS v1 users right?

Angus_FX - what will be the upgrade price? Or will be Synth Squad a complete new version where no upgrade is available ?
