That would in case mean that Synth Squad v1 sales would drop to zero straight away ;)

I guess with the launch of this news, that those buying SS v1 now, will get a free upgrade. Otherwise, who's gonna buy v1 now when v2 is just some months away.

We'll of course ensure that existing Synth Squad owners get the best deal, and that people who buy the synths individually before the release of any bundle pay no more to complete the set than a new customer would.

@ VariKusBrainZ yes, even multitouch, with some caveats relating to the ergonomics. It's not very usable on a Surface-sized tablet, but run it with the UI blown up to fill a 20+ inch screen and it's quite nice. I'd say the cutoff point is about 15in on the current layout. Performance-wise it actually works OK on small tablets made within the last year or so (at least running exclusively - it's still capable munching half a core at the low clock rates tablets run at, so a dualcore <1.5GHz isn't that well suited to running it in a DAW). It's really neat to have a synth like that in such a light form factor, but the ergonomics need to be rethought for it to work on small touchscreens.
Excellent news, Im using a 23",
Im guessing youre using JUCE ?

(if you do your research a multi touch monitor doesnt need to cost an arm, a leg and a kidney)

Guess again 8)

(and yes, I've tried it on a handful of multi touch machines).
This account is dormant, I am no longer employed by FXpansion / ROLI.

Find me on LinkedIn or elsewhere if you need to get in touch.

This looks and sounds amazing and I like this flat and modern looking GUI!
Just for the record, I hate flat GUIs, and being 'modern' doesn't mean it's good.

Do you intend to bring this new scalable UI technology to your other products as well?
Like Geist which could really use those extra pixels that today's monitors can display.

I was pretty late to the synth squad party .. I do own it, but never really used it much. This has definitely piqued my interest, though. I'm a big fxpansion fan otherwise .. and that demo sounds awesome. Looks like you'll be getting more of my money next year.

Also, I second the comments about an updated UI for Geist. That thing is a powerhouse, but it could really use a facelift.

Wow!
Looking forward to V2 :)

Yes exciting!

As a long-term user of version 1, I'm very much looking forward to this new update Angus.
I'm sure you'll do a great job.

However, amongst the other myriad of things you have to do, please could there be a LARGE option for the GUI? I find myself having to squint quite hard at version 1's GUIs, or using the Windows magnifying tool.
(Sorry if GUI size has already been mentioned).

Many thanks.

Thanks Angus and your team to bring us an update. I did not go through all the replies in this thread but all my concern is about the CPU usage. Is this the reason to bring it to 2D UI ? Anyway, if it is skinable and like Doug1978 said I hope the UI is a bit larger.

Angus,

Do you have any intention of allowing midi output from the arpeggiators? Especially from fusor? That's one of my most-desired feature for sequencing purposes. Perhaps an on board sequencer like TAL baseline? On a semi-related note, realtime midi output from tremor would be amazing. It would be worth the price just to tap that sequencer. :)
