Badgers vs. skunks.
Which one has the dongle, the badger or the skunk?
What's a dongle? Must be something I got rid of years ago... :clown:

Given the OP, the question is more likely to be several dozen rounds of 'someone tell me how to make this reverb sound with Valhalla because Im too lazy to do my own homework'

Isn't asking on the internet forums classed as homework?

+1
Exactly what I was thinking.

^^ to be fair to WR, nobody has a problem with questions being asked.
It is when the advice and help in answers is ignored, and the same questions get asked again, that it becomes frustrating. (Have a look at the OP's profile history).
Also, there are plenty of threads and posts not only at KVR and Gearslutz, but also on other sites, which document the close comparisons between Lexicon and Vahalla already.

Ultimately, Vahalla and Lexicon are excellent (I have products from both).
They have great similarities, indeed Sean from Vahalla had the Lexicon reverbs in mind when he designed parts of his Vahalla reverbs:

But there are also key differences too, not least the badgers have dongles and are more expensive.
If I had to choose one, I'd go with Vahalla.

I think for most of us Valhalla is fine because it is cheap and good. No need to spend a fortune.

Prefer Valhalla to Lexicon. Sounds better, less expensive, all algorithms are in one plugin. Only plus for Lexicon is that I like the GUI better.

here's a diffused echo-verb: ...The Hall algos with large size values makes for echoes since they go far beyond other "smaller" algos. Diffusion parameters more to minimum to "morph" from reverb to delay-echo

Try on stabby/percussive stuff, play with shape: size and attack parameters to fine-tune time and character of the echoes as well as predelay and decay.

<ValhallaVintageVerb pluginVersion="1.0.1" presetName="Diff Echoverb" Mix="0.300000012" PreDelay="0.338999987" Decay="0.545000017" Size="1" Attack="0.810000002" BassMult="0.606999993" BassXover="0.282582551" HighShelf="0.536000013" HighFreq="0.5" EarlyDiffusion="0.252000004" LateDiffusion="0.175999999" ModRate="0.483999997" ModDepth="0.203999996" HighCut="0.814999998" LowCut="0.100000001" ColorMode="0.666666687" ReverbMode="0.0416666679"/>

------------

Smooth Dark Room:

<ValhallaVintageVerb pluginVersion="1.0.1" presetName="Smooth Dark Room" Mix="0.340000004" PreDelay="0.211999997" Decay="0.328000009" Size="1" Attack="0.296999991" BassMult="0.207000002" BassXover="0.335999995" HighShelf="0.5" HighFreq="0.275000006" EarlyDiffusion="1" LateDiffusion="0.879999995" ModRate="0.156000003" ModDepth="0.263999999" HighCut="0.419999987" LowCut="0.0949999988" ColorMode="0.333333343" ReverbMode="0.125"/>

---------

Here's a tight ambiance... change the color using the SHAPE parameters...

<ValhallaVintageVerb pluginVersion="1.0.1" presetName="Tight Amb" Mix="0.400999993" PreDelay="0" Decay="0.0920000002" Size="0.296999991" Attack="1" BassMult="0" BassXover="0.455000013" HighShelf="0.159999996" HighFreq="0.224000007" EarlyDiffusion="1" LateDiffusion="0.796000004" ModRate="0.555999994" ModDepth="0.148000002" HighCut="0.658999979" LowCut="0.0469999984" ColorMode="0.666666687" ReverbMode="0.375"/>

---------

For a good chorus try the Halls and Sanctuary especially...
On this preset try messing with the Shape: size and attack will cross-fade between two different chorus flavors since it's the blend between early VS late reflections on the Sanctuary algo..

<ValhallaVintageVerb pluginVersion="1.0.1" presetName="Chorus Gentle Shimmer" Mix="0.5" PreDelay="0" Decay="0" Size="0.25" Attack="0.5" BassMult="0.324000001" BassXover="0.282582551" HighShelf="1" HighFreq="0.5" EarlyDiffusion="0.703999996" LateDiffusion="0.819999993" ModRate="0.796000004" ModDepth="0.363999993" HighCut="1" LowCut="0.0529999994" ColorMode="0.666666687" ReverbMode="0.375"/>

I have both and prefer Lexicon. But I greatly prefer Exponential Audio over both to be exact :)

I have both hardware and software lexicons, still a staple in many world class studios.
And it proved to be perfect on gazillions of records.

When I want the Lexicon sound ( and this is most often the case :oops: ), I usually turn to my HW Lexicons, or their sf versions/counterparts. Or the Exponential Audio reverbs. Seems obvious .... :shrug:

Valhalla are good but no contest if comparing, Lexicon for me all the way.

Why have you left out Bricasti's from the discussion?

How would you qualify the way Lexicon is significantly better than Valhalla? Please try to describe it - I think we all can learn something from your (no doubt) tremendous experience. It would be great if you could also post some clips which illustrate Lexicon's superiority compared to Valhalla*.

*Which of Valhalla's reverb plugins are we talking about b.t.w.?

dunno if it's the same with the lexicon but the relab lx480 tail feel more part of the sound, it gel/sound better to me, maybe pilot error !
