I am running Cubase SX 2.0 for Windows. I was sending my CPR files to someone using Cubase SL 1.0 for MacOS X, which wouldn’t open them. In fact, it crashed Cubase on his machine. This even happened with empty or very small, single-pattern files.
Shouldn’t Cubase SL 1.0 for MacOS X and Cubase SX 2.0 for Windows be file compatible?

SX 2 should be able to open SL 1 files, but definitely not the reverse, thus your difficulty. What you could do is send your friend copies of audio and midi files from your project which your friend could then import in to a project in SL 1.
