The Plugin Manager is just awesome. I am the most organized in Cubase I have been in a long time. Now I can itemize my 2,754,361 plugins.

Yes, but where can we see what plug-ins failed validation, and re-check them one by one?

That's just a list. I think I remember that previously we had a funtionality (as is in other DAWs) to see a window with all plug-ins, including those that were rejected, and select just what we want to re-check, but maybe I am just confusing.

Delete the plugin that you want to be scanned again from the black list and open Cubase again. Or simply send the file to the trash bin to rescan all the blacklisted plugins.

OK, I checked with Cubase 6.5 (the oldest version I currently have installed) and there isn't such a functionality, which is a shame. Thanks for the suggestions, but those are workarounds. Other DAWs list ALL the plug-ins, and allow us to selectively re-examine each of the failed ones.

I have to check that XML file, and see what I can do to it manually. The time it takes to to make a full scan of all the plug-ins seems like an eternity (it improved, though).

If you delete the black list Cubase will only scan the previously blacklisted plugins, don't worry, it won't take long.

Wait, was the scan mechanism on host relaunch reworked?

Because the one Steinberg host that only checks for new plugins, is Wavelab. Cubase on he other hand runs through the whole folder on every host relaunch to check if the plugins are still "valid" or "there".

If this was changed in C8, that is a HUGE workflow improvement IMO.

No, at least the first time I launched it, it checked every plug-in. It did it a little faster, but gave errors on several (half of Tone 2 plug-ins were refused, and almost all of Air plug-ins too - this on Max OS X 10.9). That's why I wanted to be able to select those that were refused (and weren't in Cubase 7.5) to see if it would still reject them - but I don't want to go through the "via crucis" again

I think you refer to the plug-in information window, It was on Devices > Plug-in information, it is still on Cubase Pro 8 but now it has change.
You can see a more complete list on the Plug-in manager under Devices > Plug-in Manager

Ist the upgrade from C 7.5 a complete new install, i.e. will I have 2 coexisting installs of 7.5 and 8 Pro on my DAW ? Or will the upgrade overwrite the existing 7.5 installation?

You will have both.
