Hi everbody

Im new here and im from Switzerland, so my english isnt so good.

Does anybody know how the typical Day.Din bassline is made? like in this viedeo:

or in this

How is that "Cutoff-Automation-Effekt" made? LFO? Sequenzing or with an Automation-Clip?
I have made an similar sounding bassline with Lenner Digital Sylenth, but just without this Effekt. And so my bassline sounds a little boring.

Thanks in advance

Tim

Hi Tim - What second in the video is the effect at?

at 43 Seconds, when the bassline starts.

Hi Tim - Ok, can you show us what you made? I'm unable to understand this: "Cutoff-Automation-Effekt"

Are you asking how some of the higher notes are brighter in frequency? Velocity could be controlling filter or a mod envelope amount. Alternatively, the synth might just have key-tracking on, since the bass is jumping close to an octave on some of these notes.

Best to show us where you're at and I'll try to clue you in on what you're missing.

It isnt really an effect, what i mean is that it sounds for me like the cutoff changes from note to note, like he did an automation or something like this.

But here is the bassline i made ;)

I do not think it is a cutoff lfo or something like that. It rather sounds like on the second note, there is another bass playing with the original bass. You can probably duplicate your original bass and change the cutoff and stack it with your original bass but have it playing every other note. Mix the second bass in with the original one until you get the sound you were after.

Hope that helps! :)

this is what i got so far

could be done better with more time for sure ;)

excessive layering in trilian is the key, try to use different parts/outputs from trillian for every note

Try side chaining a kick to a good slap bass and applying appropriate EQ

Thank you very much for the answers!

@ itsNano: Good idea, I'll try it.
@ Mescalito: your bassline Sounds great, nearly like Day. Din's. And you say you did that just with layering the bass-Sounds in Trillian? I don't have Trillian and also not enough money to buy it. But that should work with other Synths too, should'nt it?

what does this mean specialy?

I don't think there is any layering or lfo'ing involved, but a jump on the note and some envelope fiddling.
Wanted to see how close I can come, so I tuned one of my track down to 134 and played an offbeat bass.. not very well tuned though, just a test.. :D

simple note jump up on the bass, side-chain compressor and a little bit of EQ, that's it.
I'm sure you will come very close by spending some time on tuning the filter envs.
