i just saw a promo about the Phon61 and it sounds not bad, a bit uncrispy though and muffled some sounds, so i wonder who has experiences with Synth Magic and their products? are their "based on" products really sounding authentic or better stay with DIVA etc.?

On a scale from 1 to 10, I will award SynthMagic 11

SynthMagic stuff is uniformly excellent, IMHO, and easily worth the nominal amounts charged for each instrument.

Apples and oranges to compare it with Diva or other soft synths, however. SynthMagic's instruments are sampled from the original hardware and played in Kontakt (with beautiful UIs).

It is freeware?

I can distribute it ?

Synth Magic are great. Steve is very responsive: he even went back and added some new samples from the ARP Explorer after he'd already finished it just because I wanted the Philip Glass bass sounds.

If anyone thinks it would be fun to distribute freely I will happily slap them on Steve's behalf.

I feel lucky lucky to get such good Kontakt instruments for such a reasonable price.
Synthmagic rules :tu:

No differing opinion here. Synth magic do really great stuff and Steve seems to be a nice guy and very supportive. Originally got my eye on synth magic because of the Quadra (being a fan of old Genesis stuff). But I got the whole (huge) bunch in the KVR charity auction. It's a lot of stuff and I haven't checked it all out yet, but not a single disappointment so far.

Don't talk piracy around here, unless you want to get banned.

As for the OP's question, Steve has made some really great Kontakt libraries. Many of us like them and use them a lot. Whether you think they're good (or more aptly, suitable for your music) is up to you and Synth Magic's audio demo page.

Post

Steve (Synthmagic) is a really good guy and his libraries are excellent.
It was probably meant as a joke but the comment about it being freeware is inapproriate.

Post

They're very good, normally samples from analogue synths always sound a bit static somehow for me, just don't capture the machine very well but Synth Magic libraries are exception to me! Thoroughly recommended!
circuit modeling and 0-dfb filters are cool

Don't worry, it was a joke relative to another thread which had turned to a mess and that it's better to laugh.

SynthMagic is on a very short list of instant purchases in my book.
as mentioned above, Steve is a great guy with awesome products. the only downside I can think of is that he puts out these awesome products at a rate high enough that I wish he would just do a subscription service ;) seriously- I would be in.
