Anybody using Mobile as controller for Alchemy Desktop? Create patches in Desktop and then download to Mobile? I am interested in hearing how this has worked out for you. Thanks!

I have moved a lot of my Desktop libraries to mobile. You loose a LOT of them because the lack of spectral engine in mobile and some other cut down features. But some of them are still useable. The only library I haven;t lost presets out of was the Chamelon revisited. haha since Alchemy mobile is essentially Chamelon 5000 supped up a bit. With that being said. its one of my fav mobile synths.

Haven't tried using it as a controller...maybe I go do that...

Update...getting it going is pretty easy... open Alchemy in your DAW..go to file and enable ipad controller...open Alchemy on your iPad and open the bank/preset choosing window and scroll down and you will see your computer...choose that...and away you go

Sounds fun! What I am really interested in is making a preset on my laptop and saving it in mobile for live use. What I'm hearing is that there are quite a few features missing - I need to figure out which features those are and make patches that do not use them.

The controller part I will probably try maybe tonight! I just got an Air and am enjoying the hell out of it!

you can try asking, or poking around, the camel forum area. I believe they've mentioned before exactly what they stripped out of the mobile version

I have transferred many sounds and libraries from Desktop to the Mobile app. It's pretty easy and has worked out GREAT!!! I have found only a few sounds that don't play anything. For me, this is one of the best features of Alchemy Mobile and why I recommend upgrading to Pro (I believe this is a Pro-only feature). Yes, you can also make your own sounds in Desktop, save the file, and transfer it to the Mobile version. One thing you can't do is make a sound on Mobile and get it into the Desktop version.

From what I can recall, some of the limitations with Alchemy Mobile are no spectral synthesizer (sounds using this won't play) and all the samples are in mono. But samples copied from Desktop should be in their native mono/stereo.

Cool replies everyone. I just set up Mobile Pro as controller - pretty fun playing laptop Alchemy from the next room over! Works as stated - worth upgrade purchase right there.

More experiments in the days to come.
