I dont know why everyone disses it but like Mike O. says for the money its great.

Its nice to see a recent pic of him. One of my all out fav composers! I just love his stuff, way ahead of his time. He used Atari Notator for a long while as well ( had to throw that in)

Can't wait to hear what he does in FL Studio however.

The one thing i don't like about FruityLoops is this: http://www.jeskola.com <-- which i was told was registered by someone at Fruity. Oskari forgot to renew jeskola.com which was the old addy for Buzz. Fruity then supposedly came in and bought it and posted links to their site instead. Very nasty, please tell me it's not as bad as it looks. I've really disliked Fruity ever since that, mayhap it's not their doing though.

Factually somewhat correct.

Oskari forgot to renew it, and it was purchased by a cybersquatter. Imageline bought it out from them.

It was offered back to Oskari under the condition that he corrects bugs in Buzz Wrappers he contracted to develop for FL and got paid for, as well as removes the BSOD he inserted into the Buzz Wrappers without Imageline knowledge.

He did not like the conditions and this issue was never resolved.

Of course prior to this somewhat controversial move - Imageline attempted multiple times to reach an agreement over contractual obligations without any success, which is hardly surprising considering Oskari's past business affairs.

AFAIK Image Line bought jeskola.com domain to make some kind of trading for bugfixing the FL Buzz wrapper. Oskari didn't agree, resulting in removal of links to any real jeskola stuff from the .com until now, so he had to buy www.jeskola.net instead.

Oskari forgot to renew jeskola.com

Domain responsible was Luke Freiler aka Sine909 though, you can reach him at www.sine909.com

What really dissapoints me is Image Line using jeskola.com to promote their own SF2 player, instead just taking the domain off. I think ICAAN expressively forbids using domains for that purpose.

That's really somewhat amusing and comes close to blackmail. Imageline buys the url and tries to use it as currency to get an update that was likely never in the original deal when fruity bought the buzz license.

I really have to stick to thinking it's foul play, them buying the url makes no sense in the first place. And them keeping the url linking to fruity and not buzz makes even less sense. I can't say I'm impressed by their way of doing business :-/

The best way should be getting representatives from both sides and make some clarification about the facts. I know Oskari uses to be quite confident and maybe won't argue anything, but I'd like to see gol or jmc jumping in here to put their version of the history.

Which makes it likely that your opinion is far from unbiased.

If free updates was in the deal of the license Oskari would have breached the contract by not supplying an update. If there was a contract breach I'm sure imageline could have gotten a refund or sued Oskari. This does not seem to be case. Looking at the text on Oskari's website it seems like the license is sold as is. Then again I have no clue what the text looked like when they originally bought the license. One would hope imageline did proper testing and did make sure to get a good deal on the license however

Biased? No, I dislike how Oskari didn't allow machine devs to make commercial synths/effects. I also dislike how he later made a commercial buzz machine and then sold the buzz license making money from machine devs that never got payed for actually making the buzz license as attractive as it is. However this does not make me change my opinion on imageline and their "foul play".

There was no "purchase of license". Oskari was paid to develop the adapters. He wrote them himself - bugs, BSOD, everything.

As for breach of contract - do you ever wonder how come there was no litigation from Oskari towards Imageline? Could that be that he is not exactly sure of winning it?! Or could it be because international litigation is an expensive affair?!

As you may or may not know - Imageline continues to collaborate with many different people on many different things. And the realtionships between these developers and Imageline continue to be friendly and collaborative.

Situation with Oskari is quiet an exception. And considering his past history with Buzz community (the mystery of donations, the machine license, etc), maybe you are trying just a little too hard to pin your labels on Imageline.
