Is WIP tab in the middle going to be the oscilloscope?
Does it use multiple cores? CPU is very low anyway but I like to know everything.

Been playing around for a couple of hours and I'm loving this! I'm seriously smiling right now. I'm also on board for more waveforms, but it sounds like you guys have that planned out.
Thanks for letting us play with this. Happy holidays!

Maybe. Maybe not.Kaboom75 wrote:Is WIP tab in the middle going to be the oscilloscope?
I think we're daring the experiment to not do a scope. Supersaws are really not as important to look at as e.g. phase distortion sweeps or results of audio rate modulation. Scopes make sense when bending waveforms is a key element. Hive however is a different kind of synth - more like Diva where we banned the scope into a rarely visible tab.
I don't think it needs to. Multicore support helps with very expensive processing, but it also costs a little CPU itself. I'm afraid that in Hive the trade offs might be higher than the gains. Well, if we do 32 voices or 64, we might render them in clusters on multiple cores. We'll see. It's too early to say.Does it use multiple cores? CPU is very low anyway but I like to know everything.

Thanks Urs I only use oscilloscops for eye candy really a freq analyser would be more useful to me but then again my DAW has one. Maybe there shouldn't be anything telling our eyes what our ears are recieving.
You know better than me leave it to you
. I was thinking the same about multiple cores, I was looking for the MC button but was at the same time thinking why put it on, my cores are still in bed.

Well, as for frequency analyser… we would like to publish a combined oscilloscope and analyser with a few extremely handy functions some time next year. Kind of a sound designer's toolkit.
We have such a thing internally, but it needs to be polished.

Hello Urs,
Would you consider using a bigger font size in the 'Patches' section? (Also on Bazille)
My eyesight is not so perfect and trying to read the patch information is a bit straining.
Thanks for listening.

+1 for more types of OSC.JC_ wrote:Been playing around for a couple of hours and I'm loving this! I'm seriously smiling right now. I'm also on board for more waveforms, but it sounds like you guys have that planned out.

Basti has started working on a nofrills UI. I'm not sure if he wants to add larger fonts, but I think it's supposed to be small and tidy, so you could simply scale it to 150% or something.zxant wrote:

Other than that, yeah, adding accessibility features would be a logical development.

Increase Osc2 Volume. Make sure any of the two filters has input from Osc2. Make sure that filter also has Volume liftedjfostermusicstudio wrote:Ok it is early in the morning but how do you get sound out of oscillator 2? I'm probably totally have a bonehead moment but...Thanks

Haha.....boneheadedness confirmed. Perhaps I need more coffee before operating soft synths. Thanks URS. Hive sounds great btw. Thanks for all of your hard work.

I reckon the values like octaves should be click and drag rather than click and select, but might get used to it.
The central window is a bit blurry, IMO.
In Sylenth, each part has two oscillators so you could have it spread over 4 octaves, but Hive seems to only have two oscillators total, so a maximum of 2 octaves. I'm probably missing something.
Haven't sorted out the volumes yet. They seem to apply to detune and semitone, not the oscilator itself? Probably missing something again.

Con, that was a great patch! Loved it, hence the tear!con_sordino wrote:martingifford wrote:

Thanks for showing this. Had not found it yet myself.justin3am wrote:Click the little triangle at the top-left of a mod matrix slot and select 'Osc Phase Control'. seems like i need to make me a new init preset, the current one confuses me.
Playing around with it some more, I'm not sure Hive really needs a factory preset library. Because it is so easy to get tweaking en get your own sounds. It's very inviting.
It's drawing you in like: "We are synth, you will be assimilated, resistance is futile"
