While not a traditional full-featured DAW, Numerology gets my vote for the approach which most enhances creativity. I love Live for many tasks, but Numerology leads me to totally other dimensions.

I've tried this and couldn't see why I might use this over Live, but I might have to demo it again.jc_vt wrote:While not a traditional full-featured DAW, Numerology gets my vote for the approach which most enhances creativity. The best DAW is the one that engages you enough to get on with making music rather than writing about it in forums
It's all very personal, so I would suggest that you demo as many as DAWs as you can. There are some cut down free versions that are a good place to start:
Samplitude ProX Silver, Presonus Studio One Free, MuLab free, Podium to name a few.

What is 'best' for one person is not necessarily the best for all.
Also try not to be constrained by cost too much. In the end you get what you pay for. You are making an investment here. A DAW that suits your workflow will pay dividends in terms of assisting your creativity in the long run.
Measure twice and cut once.
Good luck
Seriously, what you will get in response to your question is subjective opinion and subjective opinion presented as fact. Some people like to get on and do their music, some like to fiddle around with the software.Writing about music is like dancing about architecture

Hans Zimmer said that,"The best DAW is the one that you're used to.Whatever’s in your head, you’re supposed to be able to get it out and into your sequencer as quickly as you can."
That's pretty good advice I reckon
No auto tune...

Oh, so that's the key to Zimmer's success ?digitalboytn wrote: Hans Zimmer said that,"The best DAW is the one that you're used to.Whatever’s in your head, you’re supposed to be able to get it out and into your sequencer as quickly as you can."

I guess I might fall in love with other DAWs than REAPER but I'll never fall in love with n-track Studio...
Macaw Studio was another DAW which had great virtual instruments but the workflaw...workflow was just awkward...

I really hope that 'dubturbo' ad isn't real, looks like a terrible photoshop.
Also I like that I'm the only one that's used LMMS
Free ftw (when I find there is something I can't do in it, I can always import a recording of it from another program, that's actually how I get all my TB-303 emulations in).
It might not have a few features that the big name ones have, but it works with a lot of plugins both for effects and instruments.

lol! Case closed. I'm sticking with Your Mum. Merry Xmas.fandango wrote:Your Mum v2.5.6
Incredibly cheap, often on offer in the Marketplace, supports a vast amount of plugins and surprisingly light and mobile despite the age and obvious amount of bloat.
Merry F**king Christmas
