I know - not exactly common, but it was the case for me. Diva had a bunch of modules to swap around and what not - I really never got into it. It might have to do with the UI of Serum, which I prefer and is intuitive for me. You can make the sound as simple or complicated as you like very easily. Either way, yes sold Zebra and Diva. Serum is my favorite new synth of 2014.deastman wrote:Seriously? You find Diva more complicated than Serum?I didn't use Zebra or Diva much and sold them recently - too complicated for my simple mind and fast workflow. That's why I like Serum - very easy to program and sounds great. Hoping Hive is similar, but with that Sylenth vibe (tried Dune and didn't find it there).
Now Hive is here, is it RIP Sylenth?

I didn't have Sylenth but had many chances to play with it in my friend's home. Pretty easy to program to archive my expected result (I love Sylenth > Spire). Believe it or not, I found both NI massive and Sylenth have more than 20 sound sets avaiable in the market. So you will see so many ppl are fond of it and know it in-side-out. It still have edge today like you will see ppl still got old gears in their studio and making music.
Bought Hive last night with U-He coupon after 30mins demo, though it is an un-finished product but man it was developed by U-he and I trust they will make it better and better. Hive is a simple "Quick-win" synth that make me create patches real quick. LIke Steinberg retrologue not having many fancy stuff but sounds good to my ears. Sylenth is Classic! And may be 8 - 10 years later Hive can share the same honor hehe

And most of the ones I've heard sound the same. For a bit I was concerned that maybe people were buying other peoples sound-sets, and modifying the presets and then reselling them with different names.mysticvibes wrote:Sylenth has over 1000 sound banks available...

And now they want to tie any contender to the corpse.

I think you confuse being "the same" with being "similar"...
Of course sounds are similar, sometimes "very similar". See piano, guitar... Almost never "the same" (unless you clone them?
). Let alone virtual analog.

similar
ˈsɪmɪlə/Submit
adjective
1.
having a resemblance in appearance, character, or quantity, without being identical.
"a soft cheese similar to Brie"
synonyms: alike, (much) the same, indistinguishable, close, near, almost identical, homogeneous, interchangeable;
same
seɪm/Submit
adjective
2.
of an identical type; exactly similar.
"they all wore the same clothes"
synonyms: matching, identical, alike, duplicate, carbon-copy, twin, paired, coupled, double, indistinguishable, interchangeable, corresponding, equivalent, parallel, (all) of a piece, like, like (two) peas in a pod, comparable, similar, correlative, congruent, tallying, agreeing, concordant, consonant
I think you're wrong in your presumption
But let's not quibble over what you think I mean. Just concentrate on the smiley face and relax.

so you mean two twins, two apples, two flowers etc. are "the same"? Here we say "similar" or "very similar". Sometimes "identical", in the meaning of "so similar they look the same".
Even the same word spoken twice is never "the same" IMO.

Thats exactly what happened. They prob didnt buy them. Google sylenth and the search throws up torrents full of banks.V0RT3X wrote:And most of the ones I've heard sound the same. OutCider wrote:Making every synth sound the same as every other. Thanks sound designers.
Never understood why ppl do that. As soon as a synth is released, certain preset peddlars make the same sounds again.... money for old rope i guess.

Couldn't possibly be that, could it?Kriminal wrote:money for old rope i guess.
At least that's a step up, just, from copying a retro synth's original patch sheets.
I am pleased that the Hive community have been sharing patches in the U-he thread.
