I know, right?

I make my own sound banks here. They would be too weird to post up. :nutter:

Never understood why ppl do that. As soon as a synth is released, certain preset peddlars make the same sounds again.... money for old rope i guess.
I guess those banks are mostly targeted to the warez kiddies - surely all of them have a cracked copy of Sylenth, but no clue how to program the latest 'Big Room Lead' / Brostep wobbler.

On the other hand, Sylenth sound banks are pirated too - I wonder how much money one can make from a new Sylenth bank nowadays. :?:

I'm guessing around the same amount for any other. Some range between 19-29€ I would imagine

That makes total sense. Someone with a cracked copy is absolutely going to buy the presets instead of just pirating them.

Stereotypes, eh?

I find Sylenth better than the current version of Hive. The envelopes sound "clean" and its double voice architecture is better for pads as there are two osc's with semi-tuning on both the right and the left side.
But I think the developer should update the modulation destination list (envelope phases etc.) and the user interface is a bit small by modern standards. I can't read those display values at all. With a bigger interface I might even have bought it during the xmas sale.
Strange that Sylenth is always branded as the EDM synth when it actually is a solid bread-and-butter "analog" synth. One might as well use it for R&B etc.

fail troll op

Sylenth is and always be a great sounding synth. Never understood why some people think because a synth is "old" it is no longer good.

U-he most overrated stuff on KVR

There is a TON of great stuff that is right up there with U-he stuff that doesn't get nearly enough attention around here.

i find hive feel a bit like a rushed synth cause it's still in beta...in his current state feature wise i find the price is steep vs the competition, i bought it with the coupon otherwise at 149 euros i would probably save my money and just rebuy a second hand virus for that type of stuff, it's where i feel you get the most for the cash. ( i m not really a supersaw fanatic so all the extra feature are welcome..sure the virus cost more, but buying a plugin here and there it's quickly more expensive than buying the real deal and not looking back)

I've been testing Hive extensively these last few days but i still haven't warm up to the synth. It doesn't have a unique character like sylenth. For me it sounded like a limited feature U-He synth, i'd much rather get Zebra instead.

For me the envelope of Sylenth is its key feature, but Hive's envelope is not as snappy unfortunately. And the reverb, i much prefer Sylenth version.

Sylenth is like virus for me, the limited processing power at the time lead to some cutting corner programming to save cpu and it helps to create a synth that have its own character.

Hive is not a replacement for Sylenth, it's another completely different synth that have similar feature with Sylenth.

That is the reason why Sylenth1 is so popular and respected... not only among trance lovers of course.

At $99 (or $79), it would be a fair price for Hive IMO (although I had a coupon and could have it for such price, but Black Friday has emptied my bank account and I already have Hybrid, so I passed).

At $149 it is light on the CPU but heavy on my pocket! Anyway, for $149 it must be really special like Zebra or Largo (even those I can't think buying them at these prices when I had Z3ta+2 for $50, Massive for $100 and Air Hubrid 3 for about $50) in the discount!!
In the survey (of u-he) I chose the range price between $50 and $100, and that what I can pay for synths or effects bundle really because I'm a poor guy, maybe for some others, $50 doesn't make any difference or the synth itself is targeted for other people (like DJs or Professionals), I really don't know
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

And most of the ones I've heard sound the same.
That's probably what killed it.
And now they want to tie any contender to the corpse. :hihi:
So having over 1,000 soundbanks "killed" Sylenth? How, exactly?

I purchased Zebra 8 years ago. Since then it has had 2-3 paid upgrades worth of features added. I received all those updates free of charge. When Zebra 3 comes out, it will finally have a modest upgrade price because it will be a complete re-write.

That is 8 years of use, support, huge overall upgrade of features and the knowledge that it is not dead-ended... all for my original price. Best synth value I've ever had. So while a u-he synth may be a bit higher than some, over time they are a very good deal.

Since Diva came out 3 years ago, it has received significant enhancements. An arp, the Uhbie Filter and the Digital Osc were added. It also has a new GUI with the incremental 10% scaling and note per midi channel support, AAX support and some other stuff as well. All that is enough to be a paid upgrade. It was free.

Of course you can measure value as you wish, but for me, it is well worth a bit higher initial cost to get the sort of support and ongoing development (usually free) that u-he offers.

A cracked Sylenth is always available, for preset packs normally it takes longer to get - that time seems to be enough to make some sales.

Well, u-he has a very good reputation in every thing. The price is not that high really, but for me I prefer buying, for example (Don't kill me Urs!) Zebra 2 for $100 and then upgrade to Zebra 3 for $50 and then Zebra 4 for additional $50. It is how business is going IMO. I don't want someone to work for free 8 years for me! it is not fair, but I also can't pay in advance for possible free upgrades!

Anyway, nothing against u-he or Hive. I like Hive a lot and it is in the same place for me with Hybrid 3, but I wouldn't buy Hybrid 3 for its full price! So, the same opinion I have about Hive applied on Hybrid 3 as well (and Dune 2, ...etc). I might get Dune 2 in the future but not for more than $100. It is as you said, every one has his/her own measures for valuing things :)
