I'd be lying if I'd say "yes" - then again, not music realm related.

My Christmas with the family was good, eating, talking, and presents. I did use some music hardware-I have a Danelectro Black Coffee distortion pedal that I use when not plugged into a computer.

Unless I'm mistaken, Gadget Fiend goes under the moniker of Music Maven at gearslutz (the gear lists, not to say the subject and the style of posts are near identical).

Now, last year someone posted a Waldorf Pulse2 demo:

https://soundcloud.com/gryke/waldorf-pulse-2

About which Music Maven made the following comment:
I hadn't really heard that "Pulse magic" from any of the leaked demos so far. But as soon as I heard this short demo above I thought, "Ah, there's that deep bass, killer resonance tone, and crazy aggressive/expressive modulated sounds that make the Pulse so special." I'm pre-ordering one right now!
Here's the funny thing, reading the description for that 'Pulse2' demo it seems that the demo issn't a Pulse2 at all - it's a spoof produced with a softsynth (Diva).

That 'deep bass, killer resonance tone, and crazy aggressive/expressive modulated sounds' which, out of all of the genuine demos, persuaded Music Maven/Gear Fiend to go and order a Pulse2, all of it done with a softsynth.

Actually from that demo i would not have guessed it's a Pulse 2 at all and i was even surprised that it should be from Diva. My own experiences from both synths are better than that...

BTW if you have a look at the specs of the Pulse 2 you will hardly find a softsynth that fully replaces it in terms of both features and sound (while i admit that Diva would be the closest in that respect).

Haha, he's already removed the gear list from his sig.

I wonder why he'd do that?

Question - what is considered "analog" these days anyway?

The most simplest synthesizer, built out of resistors, capacitors and what have you? No matter if "regular sized" or SMD?
Or is it the hypernym for outboard gear - read: "hardware"?
Is it the sound - which is an highly subjective thing?
Is it because of saturation, or "dirt"/impurities?

On that behalf... what is "vintage"?
Obviously gear that exceeded a certain age. But with that fast development in terms of tools, is it already vintage once it exceeds 1 generation or (let's say) 5 years of existence? Or does that only apply to selected hardware with a certain age (20+ years, dare I even say everything pre 1985)?

Food for thought.
