The most simplest synthesizer, built out of resistors, capacitors and what have you? No matter if "regular sized" or SMD?
Or is it the hypernym for outboard gear - read: "hardware"?
Is it the sound - which is an highly subjective thing?
Is it because of saturation, or "dirt"/impurities?
On that behalf... what is "vintage"?
Obviously gear that exceeded a certain age. But with that fast development in terms of tools, is it already vintage once it exceeds 1 generation or (let's say) 5 years of existence? Or does that only apply to selected hardware with a certain age (20+ years, dare I even say everything pre 1985)?
Food for thought.
Don't be bringing that in here.
How far back do we go with vintage? EMS VCS3?
Old pipe organs? Spinets? Hurdy Gurdies? Slit Drums?
The human voice?
