I have my mixer going line-in to my sound card. Is there a program that can show trippy visualizations to sound coming in? Could i somehow get winamp, Sonique, or WMP to do it?

Thanks.

Man theres shit loads out there. To get you started theres

Bombwhich is free and creates lots of trippy graphics based on cellular automata algos and the like, reactes to audio input and you can mess with some settings in realtime.

and if you fancy rolling your own theres

Flowmotion which is a real time VJ app. Not free but its cheap and is basically a sequencer for images, though has lots of affects and features for mangling. Is fully midi syncable and controllable, has LFOS, fft analysis of realtime audio input so it reacts to sound.

Another nice app is

Gephex which is a modular image synthesiser. Kind of like Reaktor for image. Doesnt have realtime sound analysis but you can load an audio file for it to analyse. Course its realtime so theres no reason why you couldnt simply jam along with it to your tunes. This is a great open source prog, constantly updated and doesnt need a 3Ghz processor to run

Don't forget the grand-daddy of em all,

http://soundspectrum.com/g-force/index.html

comes in stand-alone or as a visual plugin for all popular media players..mind blowing visualizations. You can now save em as movie files as well I believe.

If you're on a mac, you can use Artmatic, which has the coolest visualisations on earth, but exporting the files is extremely cpu intensive & time consuming. Worth every crunch on your processor though..

that app by itself makes me wanna cry I miss my powerbook so much..

it's been updated to a purchaseable 'gold' version that I just got. It's worth every cent.

Hehehe... I have 2 G4's just to run Artmatic and Voyager. Man, I just sit back and let the anime flow... it's a wonder I get any work done.

im suprised nobody has mentioned r4 or milkdrop yet.
R4 was used at the ministry of sound events for visualization. its practically cgi quality if your gfx card can handle it. milkdrop's website has tons of presets. you'll never see the same thing for 24 hours hehe.

ahh but i'm not using it for winamp or sonique. im using it for my mixer going line-in to my computer.

If there is a way to have winamp or sonique visualize line-in audio, some one please tell me.

also i start to see the same things in milkdrop after about half an hour. Thats still more random than any other visualization though, and milkfrop is amazing.

winamp can process linein input i believe. Check out the forums but i think you goto the URL Dialog box (open URL) and type linein (could be http://linein

either way it IS possible.
