Hello Attila:musicdevelopments wrote:Hi Tony,
will you please try this with beta14 that was uploaded a few minutes ago?
I tried to scan soundfonts at various folders without issues. To be honest I don't remember if there was a bug fix since beta13 that affects loading soundfonts. I was not able to make it crash with beta13 and beta14.
Which soundfonts are in your C:\Users\myuser\AppData\Roaming\RapidComposer\Soundfonts folder? How could I reproduce this crash? Does it crash if you choose an empty folder?
The crash still manifests itself in beta14. The only soundfonts I have in the Soundfonts folder are the ones you see in the screenshot from my previous reply. The good news is that I have further narrowed down the crashing scenario -- the circumstances are considerably more specific than I originally thought. Apparently, the crash appears to only happen right after you first run RC and then immediately select for scanning any folder beneath the User's home folder as presented by the shortcut location in the file browser. This suggests to me that some variable in the code is being referenced before it has been properly initialized.
The steps to reproduce the crash would be as follows:
1) Start RC.
2) Browse immediately to the Settings tab.
3) Browse immediately to the Soundfonts tab.
4) Press the "Scan Soundfonts..." button.
5) When the "Browse for Folder" file browser dialog appears, select any subfolder beneath the User home folder. It has to be a subfolder beneath this home folder in the browser in order for the crash to happen (as demonstrated in the following screenshot).

I noticed that the crash does not happen if you deviate from the steps in such a way that the uninitialized variable state gets properly initialized -- an example of such a deviation would be to instead navigate with the file browser to a subfolder beneath the C:\Users\Username home folder when selecting the folder to scan.
An esoteric crash scenario, I grant you, but a crash scenario nonetheless.
If you are still unable to reproduce the crash, I can zip-up my RapidComposer settings folder and PM the link to you.
