Sure, it's easy to make it much more complicated with further payment gateways and complicated price structures, but that's a business decision. Same with the fact that we generally do not work with re-sellers.

I'm automatically generating a monthly excel for the consultant. For everything else, time will show. There's no question that certain interpretations of the new regulations aren't realistic, but these will correct itself.
AFAIK, you have to collect TWO pieces of 'non-conflicting' evidence of a customers' country of residence, i.e., not just their IP address.
If you're a UK business you now need to collect only ONE piece of evidence until the 30th of June 2015. Read here:

In the UK at any rate, this has just changed for the first 6 months of 2015. More here: http://euvataction.org/2014/12/29/hot-o ... p-trading/.
The fact that these changes in interpretation are being made two days before the regs come into effect makes it pretty clear that this hasn't been well thought through, so I would expect more changes. However, the change that will encounter the hardest resistance is a threshold...

Since this 6 month grace period note plays heavily on payment processors already having the required two bits of information I could imagine them coming up with some amendment before that self-imposed deadline saying that certain processors may be exempt from the two evidence rule in certain situations. It does look like HMRC understands the problem and is actually trying to help. I look forward to seeing how that plays out.

I had just deleted my content from Bandcamp recently.

Me too and now that. I guess many artists were leaving so they decided to announce they would take care of it before their whole business collapse!

Getting lots of newsletters from vendors who are taking their businesses offline :(

Dunno why the little guys are targetted, instead of taking aim at the big boys like Apple for the VAT they don't pay.

Hollow Sun also send me a mail on that behalf.

But in all seriousness, and I hope that there is somebody out there that can help me through the "jungle" of BS and tons of text that isn't answering my question:

I am offering a service(!) - meaning: I do mixing, mastering, etc.
Currently my main focus is in Germany, but I did have international clients in the last couple of years as well.

What I do (among outdoor services):
People send me material, ask me to mix. I do the mix/master then send the material back.
So it is basically "trading digital goods", no?

In theory, that would mean that I also count to the new VAT regulations, no?
If that is the case - then it's also closed borders for me as well. Which is a HUGE f*cking cut in, as the place I currently live in is swamped with AE freelancers. I mean, even if somebody would come over from Poland, Denmark, Belgium, France or whatever... they'd not pay the VAT for Germany (as they do the service on German borders), right?

And I can also forget to ever start a Patreon/Kickstarter project from German borders.

What a frustrating way to start 2015, if the first thing you see on every other small developer/sample provider/freelancer homepage you read, is that the doors have to be closed due to EU VAT/MOSS.

Thanks to the "EU regulators", small businesses definitely suffer the most unless you have a middle-man that handles your sales and payments. "The European Union - always wanting the best for us". Yeah right. :dog:

Thankfully, Hollow Sun will not be a casualty of these new regulations (hopefully). We just need time to do all the changes necessary.

Well, but this is it - "time". During that time you close doors to get sh*t sorted out, you can't do any proper sales. So you lose out on income. And this is hurting your business.

The papers are so confusedly written, I am surprised that tax offices won't be swamped the next months with people that have similar questions like me. There really is zero to no education - even after over half a year.

Well... I can say that the Black Friday sale at Hollow Sun was more than successful, so we can afford to close doors for a few weeks until situation is sorted out. I hope it won't take more than a month, though.

Yes, I've stopped sales of VAZ products, due to this VAT change.
