The U-he flagship synth, Zebra 2, and the Presswerk compressor,
are now available to test/use in linux! With more simmmering in
the kitchen

And all the previous installers have been updated

I tried the Patchwork vst host app, the standalone demo, in a linux/wineasio setup, and it seems to work fine, and with low cpu use. I loaded the windows Diva, then CM Fuzz as the fx, and all the gui's worked properly.

I then switched to a second desktop, and started Reaper, with a Rapture arppegio, to provide Diva a dance partner. To use Patchwork and Reaper .exe's, with Diva, CM Fuzz, and Rapture,
and record the mixed output using Jack Timemachine, on such an old computer,
is really nice. There is a also really nice looking mix/master app to test later. It's always good luck to have multiple vst solutions, and happily, the price is in the Reaper range.

This also works well, and will be very useful to dial in
the final touches, or get things right the first time.
The gui is busy, but nicely laid out, to use the different
features, and all the Bluecat apps are very easy on the eyes for long sessions.

Reminds me to test installing Fender Fuse in linux with this at some point,
their gui for amp/stomp/rack editing on the Mustang amps.
Requires both silverlight, and .net. Plug is a linux app
that was written to access those features without such overheads
(or 'under-feets' as the case may be)
For now, a bargepole beta prodder will have to do

KVR member BlackWinny has sorted out the duplicates from many many thousands
of Yamaha sysex files as used by the many now vintage hardwares, DX,TX etc

scroll down a bit at the link, for details. the archive is just under 10 meg.

For use in linux Hexter, expand the archive to a desired folder, and enjoy browsing
thousands of sounds from that era. 32 per bank, hexter holds 4 banks at a time.

For use with Dexed in windows, keep the archive as is, unexpanded, but renamed to

Dexed_cart.zip placed in the folder holding the .dll

This was a great and gargantuan task to undertake, let alone komplete,
and users taking advantage, will discover some great sounds,
that move easily from the '80's, to the more modern dark ages

New release of puppy linux based Studio 1337, kernel 3.18.7, updated apps,
so a great option for creating/recording with a portable linux setup,
keeps getting better. Perhaps the ultimate anti-apple?

The great zynaddsubfx synth got midi learn, care of coder fundamental:
"As an update on the status of MIDI learn, you can now simply middle click on dials/sliders and they will be assigned to the next observed unused MIDI "

$o hunt down some knob and slider gear for zyn to use!

The U-he linux synth ports are still cooking. They're like a historical tour of excellence
in sound design, and solid interface coding. A treasure chest for creativity

IK Multimedia's android hardware adventure seems to be lollygagging.

Hope they press through, and release something useful, and soon!

Noedig over at linuxmusicians came up with a mididings script to circumvent limited polyphony. Written in python. Great for those synths you want to play with both hands, but couldn't till now!
