They are really nice...

Spire can pretty much do anything.
Thanks. And yeah, it really can. This is the synth that sent the competition go back to the drawing board. A year later and still nobody else is even coming close.

Finally completed this sound-set for Spire.

In been in the works for some time.
The goal was to get some really lush pads, some thick, analog ARPs and bass as well as some head spinning atmospheres and FX.

The result is "Electronic Symphonic" for Spire.
Pre-release available with a nice intro discount.

Made my latest tune using Spire only for synth parts.

Lot's of fun creating sounds, will probably be over-using the phaser for a while now :).

I had much fun with the phaser too yesterday... just spaced out over some pads, drones and plucks. :) Good tunes here too.

how is SPIRE compared to dune 2? im struggling between those 2, Serum is more a Massive overhaul so i will keep this on my list but later.

Sound wise i prefer Spire big time. Demo it, then you can see for yourself, they're quite different in terms of sound IMO. What i love about Spire is the filters/envelopes sound. Snappy, soft, strong, the oscillators sound nice, nice supersaw, good for basses. What i don't like so much is that the LFO's and envelopes, and the step sequencer and all that are arranged in tabs, but then, tha's rather testament to the many options, and the small GUI. Also it could have some more quality wavetables. But the effects are pretty grand. Dune 2 i only demo'd briefly. I liked the programming like on Dune 1, but the unison sound, envelope and the filters weren't so much for me really. But don't take my word for it, better see for yourself.

With Spire you can get "EDM" sounds quicker and without any hassle. Unison, filters and envelopes are really good for that. It's really easy to get good sound out of Spire. There's something in the envelopes, because they work amazingly well for both plucked sounds and slow pads.

DUNE2 needs a bit more work for everything, it rarely sounds VERY good right off the bat. The density/unison or the oscillators are a bit metallic to my ears. It can sound clangy when you play overlapping notes with long release times. Spire's notes blend better.

Still, if I was pressed hard, I'd take DUNE2 over Spire, because it has more to it. Deeper and more versatile in my opinion.

I think I'll be using Spire for things I need/want to do fast and DUNE2 is more for occasions when I really want to go deep into sculpting the sound.

Spire is incredibly easy to progam and sounds good but tends to be a little thin or harsh. Dune2 requires carefull programming and a bit of external processing (I often apply some slight saturation after it), but can sound fuller/fatter. Demo both, they both are very good synths.

Dune2 is more CPU efficient, if that matters.
You may think you can fly ... but you better not try

Post

Harsh? Nah. It can have a rich biting quality though. Something that is missing from other synths which sound plastic in comparison. Thanks in part to Spires saturation, which is certainly the best I've ever found. I hope Reveal will consider doing a stand-alone multi-FX vst based on spires FX.

Here's a bit of that bite in action:

Raymond, how did you create the sound that starts at around 1:03 ?
It has a Jarre-ish Oxygene IV (the chorus lead synth) feel that I would like to reproduce. I like your track very much!

In my opinion Spire has a darker and "fatter" core sound than DUNE2. Agree that DUNE2 needs more programming, but it has good filter fx and filter drive for beefing up sounds, so processing doesn't necessarily need to be external.

Spire vs. DUNE2 kind of reminds me of Access Virus B vs Novation Supernova2 back in the day. I was thinking which one to get, ended up getting Supernova and struggled to get "that sound". Ended up getting Virus later and made a few trancers with it, but in the end I always liked Supernova more. It's exactly the same thing with Spire and DUNE2. Spire kind of gets there fast, but in the end I feel more at home with DUNE2.

...sorry guys, I do not want to disturb the Party with my Problems. I bought now spire and really like it and find it inspiring, BUT atm I can't use it in the way I intended to because it crashes cubase when cc Automation is used. does anybody of you experience the same as below? thanks for your help

1) I record e.g. a bass track with a cc Automation (for example ctrA & ctrB knob movements)
2) I let the track run while I open and Close the spire gui several times
3) Cubase crashes

- It does not happen when the track has no cc Automation
- it does not happen when I use the generic vst surface (not the graphical gui)
- Versions: cubase 7.5, cubase 8, spire 32 and spire 64, win7

cheers
