I guess Cubase crashes because it also needs the dongle, if so that is definitely stupid behaviour - a graceful error message should be sufficient. What I would prefer is that plugins don't get blacklisted though, maybe they could run in demo mode until the dongle is present?
I have done a test on windows 7 64-bit using Live 9.1.6 64-bit and the Largo 64-bit VST2 plugin.

First i unplugged my eLicenser dongle and the started Live 9. Then i tried to load the Largo plugin which resulted in a pop-up window with an error message from the eLicenser software. This offered 3 options where one was "Retry". I plugged the dongle in, clicked on "Retry" and the Largo plugin loaded properly.

The i removed the Largo plugin from the track and removed the dongle. Then tried to load the plugin again and a different error message from eLicenser popped up (with only 1 choice) and the host crashed.

Then plugged the dongle in again and re-started Live 9. When trying to load te Largo plugin the host crashed again. After renaming the plugin to "Largo x64.DLL" next time Largo was dispappeared from the list after re-starting Live 9.
Then renamed the plugin to "Largo.DLL" again and after re-starting Live 9 the plugin worked again.

While this time i forced such a problem i never observed a similar problem with the Waldorf plugins in normal use and i own e.g. Largo since it was released (AFAIK in 2009) and Arturia Prophet V even longer (around 2007). Have used the same dongle on multiple computers and/or differnt OS versions since then.

Of course using e.g. Largo and Cubase at the same time without the dongle could mean the double amount of trouble as both rely on the dongle. I do not really want to test this at the moment as currently i need both a working Cubase (and plugins) and do not want to invest time in possible fixes after that. Maybe will give a try at my notebook ASAP (currently working at the desktop PC).

What you found on your pc that is the same on macs also!
The more bigger problems came when you use several dongles, even on differet powered hubs, that some times one of the dongles stopped working while working on your project, the red light goes of and thats it, crash.
the dongled products here are on several dongles, like one for cubase, one for nuendo, one for arturia, one for waldorf, one for vsl and so on, that they could be distributed in the studio on several machines for cpu reasons.
but when away from the studio with a laptop and you want to use several product the real hassle begins
and if you need iLok dongles aside the question is, does it work or not.
Have to say that for me it seems that the iLoks are a little more stable than the syncros, but there are some other problems also

What i mentioned above was a test but i have not noticed this in regular work yet.

I have two dongles on a hub: one eLicenser with Cubase, Wavelab Elements 7, Waldorf plugins and Xils Lab plugins and also an iLok 2.

So, with the non-dongle install is it only possible to install on more than one computer? One install for laptop and one for desktop would be nice. Not holding my breath.

Hope they get the bugs worked out. Seems more trouble than it's. Worth.

Thanks for the link. I guess largo is one less synth to which I need to pay attention

Shame, it's a great synth. :) You'll still be able to run it on one computer with the software eLicenser thing. But it's very useful to have the dongle anyway, as in case of a harddrive crash or similar, you'd not lose the license.

Post

I emailed tech support to ask about that and Holger @ support verified they can resupply an activation code in the event of a hard drive crash but you need to provide proof of purchase from a retailer as well as provide the original activation code as proof that you didn't Photoshop a receipt. Just in case I'm always using a dongle.

either way it's a terrible copy protection system and deters purchase.. in my case.

nice sounding synth though. not nice enough to make me deal w/that copy protection nonsense.

The real bitch is CR that can leave you without any activation in the event a company goes under.

Waldorf Music will be at Winter NAMM 2015 which starts at 22nd of January. The Waldorf booth should be at #6009 (Level 1 Hall A).

There should be at least 2 new products shown, maybe more that i do not know of yet.

I have just updated my Waldorf Edition (LE) to 1.7.4 RC5.

The screenshot shows what the D-Pole Presets folder looks like.

As you can see, its full of stuff that doesnt belong in there, including copies of the Handbuch/Manual PDFs and the Preset folders for all 3 plugins. Even a thumbs.db is there.

Im sure the guy that made the installer would want to know about this since this is clearly not intentional.

Hi,

which OS (Windows or OSX) and Host are you using and which plugin format (e.g. VST2, VST3, AU, AAX)?

Usually the fxbs for LArgo should work in any host and plugin format as it has an own patch browser.
Maybe you use the wrong location for the user library.

You could open the corresponding folder if you open the Largo browser, at the left window right-click on "User Library" and choose "reveal in Explorer" from the drop-down menu. You should copy the fxb + fxp files to the "largo" sub-folder in that folder. If you either re-start the host or use "refresh all" from the right-click menu just mentioned the bank should appear at "User Library" if you open that (e.g. using the red arrow at the left of "User Library" or just double-clicking on "User Librayr").

We are currently checking new possible problems that are introduced by the new OSX 10.10.2 (OSX Yosemite) update.
This also includes Lector and a new update for it should be available soon.

If you notice any new bugs/problems wit hwaldorf Plugins in OSX 10.10.2 please report it here.
