Hi All. I am looking to purchase my first lot of music gear having just ever had a piano. I am just about to buy this package and am not sure if it comes with the bitwig 1.1 version. Store websites show an image of 1.0 and the info does not clarify if they are now supplying the package with the updated software.

Can anyone advise please?

And also do you recommend this package? I have a budget of max £1,000 to put together from scratch a first dig at a home studio for recording primarily synth and a bit of vocals. Grateful for any advice.

Thanks very much

Sorry - very clueless about this stuff. Once I buy a piece of software, do I have access to version updates?

Hey Mojokooki

when you own the Producers Pack, you got full access to everything as everyone else :)
Due to the announcement someone of the Bitwig Crew made, all updates will not cost you any extra money till version 1.2, as far as i know. Even you might have version 1.0 shiped on DVD, you can download all later versions from the web. :)

I would recommend some good Headphones and Studiomonitors to get the best out of the whole setup, but that is just the way i would spend the money, if there is some left after the purchase of the Producers Pack. Remember when you buy headphones and speakers, try them on your own is allways the best way to know if it really work for your needs.

Bitwig as far as i can say, i love it.

Hope that i could help you to finally make a choice ;)

Thanks for that Beerhunter. That's what I was hoping to hear.

I'm going to go ahead with my purchase of this Arturia / Bitwig pack (£399). I plan to complement this with the Focusrite Scarlett Studio Bundle (with HP60 headphones) plus mic stand / pop shield (£219) and pair of Eris E5 monitors (£250). This will take me to £868.

I've been checking out reviews and these seem to be fitting choices. Would you suggest any alternative recommendations? And have I left out any essential

I've been reading up on this stuff and at this point just need to make a move or I'll be studying it forever without making choices.

Your advice will be gratefully received.

Many thanks

hi Mojokooki,

when you buy an interface just keep in mind that you may need more than just 2 mono inputs. I did use the 2i2 before(i switch to the Scarlett 18i20 ) and as far as i can say both work really great, on Win/Mac/Linux.(The 18i20 has no ALSA support, just wanna mention if you run linux)
I can´t say anything about the mic or the headphones..... the Eris E5 are not bad, but i guess i would spend a bit more money on the speakers, but to be honest i haven´t listen to them. I use the Elac AM 150, just to mention another possible candidate, but take what fits YOU best.

And keep in mind to optimise your room acoustics.... and please please don´t use egg carton or such silly stuff. If you spend money use professional gear, which doesn´t have to be expensive. :)

Thanks for that Beerhunter. I have gone on to explore further and try some gear out following your advice and have come to this point.
Arturia / Bitwig Keylab 61Pack. £399
Yamaha HS7 Monitors x 2. £278
Steinberg UR44 Audio Interface. £222
Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro 80 ohms headphones £108

I think that might be about as good as I can organise with my £1000 budget - bearing in mind mainly for recording keys plus lesser focus on vocal and any additional instruments. Still have to add a mic choice to this. I think that I am happy to go for this set up. Any comment / advice on this would be appreciated.

Thanks again

Where is this? Do you mean they plan to charge people for point updates after 1.2?

maybe i am wrong.... and maybe this is just a rumour, but it´s just what i´ve read or heard.

Hey Mojokooki

i would choose the Focusrite Scarlett 18i8, because it has ADATand S-PDIF, so if you might need more than 8 Inputs you can use ADAT for another 8 + 2 channels via S-PDIF. But to be honest the Steinberg UR44 is a great interface as well.
But depends on your needs, and of course money ;) :) The Headphones are nice onces, i got them too.:)
The Yamaha´s should be fine, i had the possibility to check out the 5" onces, but they needed a extra woofer to get the low freq. like an E-Bass. I guess the 7" will work fine. :D

and oh yeah the Mic will be even harder to find, there are some really good once, like Neumann, but damn expensive. You have to find out which Mic will fits best to your voice. :)
