That's funny, seeing as the guy who wrote Buzz is same guy who wrote the Buzz Adaptors.
Yes, however it's not the same guy that coded several hundred synths and effects based on a license agreement claiming Buzz machines cannot be used outside of Buzz.

I quite liked some parts of Tubular Bells II, but thought he lost the plot with Amarok. Haven't listened to any of his newer stuff, and judging by most reviews, I haven't missed much.

Listened to his 'Incantations' the other day (no, not that dodgy flute bollocks :P ) . Still love it - some lush Pierre Moerlin vibraphones work in there 8)

Heard an interview with him a couple of years ago and thought he sounded like Derek from Derek and Clive in the wanky-woo sketches  .

Well after a certain digression, I don't feel so bad about my esoteric wino ramblings on page one  :D

I'm happy for whatever further attention Mike Oldfield brings to FL Studio

I only mentioned another host because I was thinking of his collection of real-world instruments and I'm familiar with Tracktion's audio recording and splicing abilities ... maybe FL does just as well in that area ... I know that other people who can actually play real instruments use it

And he can't be that much of a hermit if he goes out on tour once in a while with dozens of musicians ... I'm thinking now that he just gets called that because he would rather not waste his time on the usual PR pandering and mugging

Ommadawn and Five Miles Out are my favorite albums of his

Factually somewhat correct.

Oskari forgot to renew it, and it was purchased by a cybersquatter. Imageline bought it out from them.

It was offered back to Oskari under the condition that he corrects bugs in Buzz Wrappers he contracted to develop for FL and got paid for, as well as removes the BSOD he inserted into the Buzz Wrappers without Imageline knowledge.

He did not like the conditions and this issue was never resolved.

Of course prior to this somewhat controversial move - Imageline attempted multiple times to reach an agreement over contractual obligations without any success, which is hardly surprising considering Oskari's past business affairs.
So I guess that explains why the Jeskola XS-1 has never worked properly in FL. It seems to work fine until you close and reopen a song. The song will not open until you remove the Jeskola XS-1 from the vst folder.

Well it's in FL Studio so he has it :)

Why are people around here so obsessed with Buzz anyway?...on second thoughts, don't answer that.

never imagined that this would become a buzz vs everything thingie ;)

actually buzz is very nice but it has a active cultish community *grin*... it excels as a loop generator for other hosts imho... songwriting is a little bit tough.

but since m.o. uses floops... he´s prolly into buzz too ;)

Some people did. I think it's important to remember that the Buzz scene, though largely centered around buzzmachines.com, isn't really a homogenous mob of indistinguishable madmen.

Not that my machines are any good (the ones I'd made by the time this stuff happened very much weren't), but for what it's worth I'll give my opinion as a buzz dev anyway: I'm not sure I remember what I thought then, but I'm certain I didn't do any of these things, nor did I agree with those who did. IIRC the only major dev whose anger reached "zany divine wrath" levels was Zephod. I, personally, publish my machines so that people can use them for free, and I don't care in the slightest whether they're using them for free in Buzz or using them for free in Fruity Loops. I would mind if a company used my machines specifically as a major point in advertising for something they're selling without approaching me about compensation, but that obviously wasn't the case here; and even then I'd disagree with deliberately making them refuse to work in floops, because it clearly wouldn't be the users' fault.
Carbonboy wrote: Absolutely, all these people going misty eyed over Buzz is simply bizzare. Buzz doesn't do anything that isn't done in VST. Buzz is dead.
Polac's VST adapter for Buzz is excellent, so I really don't see what you're trying to say. In the end, it comes down to what people like working with. I like Buzz' way of doing things a lot more than anything else I've tried, and that includes the machine API. The main reason why I'm not also developing for VST is that I hate the way it works internally. If I ever want to make money with music software, I guess I'll have to get past that, but for now I don't need to.
And I'm not at all the only one still using Buzz and developing machines for it, and certainly not the best.

And... uh... boy, that Mike Oldfield. What a card, huh?

:(
