We would like to thank you for the support we've received over the years in our efforts to create instruments and effects plug-ins and sound libraries.

Camel Audio's plug-ins, Alchemy Mobile IAPs and sound libraries are no longer available for purchase. We will continue to provide downloads of your previous purchases and email support until July 7, 2015. We recommend you download all of your purchases and back them up so that you can continue to use them (Instructions: How to Download and Backup Your Products)
Goddamn. This means the products will fade into oblivion once July 7th roles around. Unless somebody forks over their legitimate copy (which I imagine is illegal, but I dunno how that works for stuff once Camel Audio shut down) on the net these products will literally be unobtainable for any news users or old users who didn't download in time/hear about all this in time. That's frightening and fairly unfortunate.

Whatttt.

Not even last chance to buy some expansions? There are still so much more I was going to get!

Would have been nice for some forewarning so people could purchase product(s) before the door closed. There were a couple of add on banks for Alchemy I wanted to get.

something to do with the Euro tax thing?
I'm tired of being insane. I'm going outsane for some fresh air.

Hmm. This is a bit of a blow. Seems like an awful lot of development has gone into Camel stuff - Alchemy particularly.

If Camel has to fold its tent perhaps this work will find a place somewhere else in the biz. I hope so.

Yeah, I was sorta thinking the same thing. OTOH, they may have seen it as unethical to sell something that they knew they wouldn't be able to support in the future. :-?

I'm actually curious. Does anyone know the legality of users distributing the software once Camel Audio have closed their doors? It's fairly safe to say that there wouldn't be any legal repercussions if anyone did it, but that still doesn't make it legal of course. It's unfortunate but once Camel Audio close their doors and customers can no longer even access their download of the software, it will just disappear. At that point piracy would quite literally be a victimless crime, there is no more money one could give to Camel Audio even if one desired to. The software will simply become inaccessible, which is a situation where nobody wins. Where as if the software could be legally distributed after Camel Audio close up completely, Camel Audio would lose nothing, but the hard work of them over all these years wouldn't fade into oblivion. The user would still have something to gain.

I'm assuming that it's fairly safe to say it isn't legal. But I was wondering if anyone knew more about this.

No more unethical than not supporting what they have already sold. And it could have been done as caveat emptor with the purchaser knowing on-going support may not be available. I would buy expansion packs and not worry too much about support for example.

It seems a rash decision and unless something drastic happened it is a very strange way to shut down.

I'm sure they will clarify things when everything is settled.
Could be better paying jobs were needed, health issues intervened,
or simply desires to persue other paths. Or an offer that couldn't be refused.

This could be forty pages by sunrise, at this rate

Perhaps re-read the eula's, for hints.

Ugo just posted in another thread that we should back up our downloads. Doesn't really scream buyout. I share the shock of others here. :(
If every KVR member wrote one review a year we'd have 1340 reviews each day!
