I was so happy when they offered me to join their sound design team some times ago... So sad...

Ah, they'll announce it at the North American Mocha Machine conventionSampleconstruct wrote:Best speculation in this thread so fartoby wrote:
Just a dream but maybe they teamed up with Spectrasonics and Alchemy 2 will be transformed into the mighty Omnisphere 2.![]()
But I have confidential info that CA is now porting their technology to Espresso machines with additive coffee resynthesis, wait for NAMM!
One hump, or two, sir?

I also tried to post something on their forum here on KVR and it was promptly deleted. At any rate, really sorry to see them go.

This is rather bizarre, out of the blue like this, and even their kvr forum is disabled?

Deleting posts without further explanation why this has come to pass seems like a quite nasty move... totally not how CA usually handles their support...

somebody just posted this on the GS forum:
"I just pulled their accounts from Companies House, thinking they might have run into trouble. They had a reasonable amount of cash in the bank, although they were small enough to only have to file abbreviated accounts, which more or less ruled out that theory unless something really bad happened in the past nine months.
However, the SH01 form, which updates the information on who holds the shares was filed with today's date and is not yet available electronically. So, an IP sale seems likely, particularly as the circumstances are very similar to the Apple purchase of Redmatica's IP: so long guys, thanks for all the fish; here are some download links; use them before we switch off the server."

Well, this is sad news. In the absence of a V2 i'd like to pick up a few sound packs, i wonder if license transfers will be processed now.
I'm not sure piracy is the sole cause here, as has been mentioned only old versions have been available on warez sites, an Alchemy 2 with the watermark system could have been an unpirated plugin. The VAT thing seems unlikely considering the size of the company. Its all speculation though. Hopefully we'll get some official statement soon.

That's what I find so surprising - CA have always seemed to be among the "good guys" - great products, great support, refreshingly honest about issues. This seems really out of character.EvilDragon wrote:Deleting posts without further explanation why this has come to pass seems like a quite nasty move... totally not how CA usually handles their support...

I just had a flash of genius. Maybe now, as they are not selling any of their products, they will make them available for free download.

Should be illegal just to shut down like this.. As a developer of software plug ins your selling something with the promise of maintaining functionality, especielly from a sound designers/developer point of view, it's simply reprehensible..
Users need to have a keep safe org. that can insure survival of their tools when the developers cave.. So support and development can continue...Afterall it seems like there is several lifetimes worth of work that goes into building up the resources that a popular instrument like Alchemy has amassed around it's sound making platform..

waves break, but somehow it all makes sense.
