In private correspondence with Izotope recently where I was moaning about Iris 2 I warned them that Alchemy 2 might make major inroads into Iris's territory.Ben H wrote:Maybe NI bought it and are going to bundle Alchemy 2 with Komplete 11.
I hope I didn't put an idea into their heads
I'm getting worried that the East Coast of the US is about to wake up and somebody there is going to being penning a press release ...

Somebody mentioned awhile back, that a partnership
with Bitwig, would be sensible for both parties...
Will we know by page 40???

Yep, which is why this thread will go nowhere.kb123 wrote:I would guess is some sort of buyout/takeover. As these things are usually covered by confidentiality agreements they will be unable to offer explanations.
Time will tell who has bought them.

Genuinely hope this isn't an Apple buyout. Mac only Alchemy 2 would be a major loss for many of us.
Nobody's mentioned inMusic yet, if we're talking about a company purchase could this be plausible?

This is terrible news. Alchemy is my number one VST that I turn to all the time and the people at Camel have always been great at support. For us consumers we are now going to have to phase out using Alchemy as future OS and DAW changes will not be addressed i.e. one day it will become dysfunctional.

Wow, this is sad news indeeed.
I had sold both Alchemy and Cameleon5000 last year but still own Camel Phat and Camel Space.
Would have to check my account for the latest downloads of those again.

My wild guess is it's been sold or their moving outside the uk and becoming a new company, probably not bankrupt , if personal reasons intervened it would be sold as a going concern, but timing suggests they have made use of the uk law and not had to register for vat this financial year so made the most of the tax free allowance before they closed, hence the secrecy to get those sales as quickly as possible as they didn't decide this overnight, good luck to them anyway, the guy who started it has plenty of other things he's developing so maybe he's moved on to them, only time will tell, and they may yet start up again outside the eu

If it was, that's not what Apple would do. At all. The products would disappear, and the engineering talent and some IP would go into future Apple products. They would not bring to market an Apple version of Alchemy - they are not interested in that (impossibly tiny) market at all.mutantdog wrote:Genuinely hope this isn't an Apple buyout. There wouldn't be a reason to include a version of Alchemy as a Logic plugin either, as Logic already has plenty of instruments and they are favouring simpler, larger, less complex plugins anyway. It's *possible* that Apple are developing a replacement EXS24 or sampling system for Logic, incorporating the IP and engineering talent from Redmatica, and where some of the IP from Alchemy would be useful, but... it seems a bit of a stretch, really. Unless Ben really wanted to relocate and work in the Apple Spaceship... (or more likely, Hamburg...)
