WTF ? :o I've read a few pages of the thread but has anyone from Camel commented ? Is there anything other than speculation as of now ?

I own Alchemy and Camelspace so this is quite a shock........... :?

No, and most likely they can't.
Please read the entire thread. Come back when you're up to speed! ;)

edit : seriously, though, if Hunter has been able to assure us that Ben is okay, but no more than that, then those who do know are under instruction not to talk about it.
I'm of this mind, too. I'm sure time will tell.

It's already been said here but hopefully people know the Camel Audio guys are nice enough to not intentionally mess people around. Speculation is human nature though, I guess.

that funny in some sad way. i actually went after camel audio in one of the granular synths thread about how alchemy hasn't been updated in 3 years and that, actions speak louder then words, that alchemy was a dead product based on upon that single fact. im a great believer in the if it didn't already happen, (but it was supposed to) then it won't.

of course, all the camel audio fans got but hurt at my comment, talking about how camel audio is a very small company bla bla bla. anyway, i was right.

I agree with Fox News. I blame the metric system for closing down Camel Audio.
I haven't read anything "anti European" in this thread.
You need to limit that rez, bro.

So, will there be a prize for the first person to correctly guess who has bought CA?

Yeah?! How about inches, feet, oz, farenheit, oreos and big slurpies? That was what brought down the Roman Empire you know.

I seriously doubt Alchemy will disappear. If they are simply closing down the business, they would have said so. And in Redmatica's case they would have a "super sale" weeks before the news became official.

What worries me is who CA is signing up with. Numark/Akai/M-Audio? Dreadful thought. Or Avid  Let's hope Alchemy gets into good hands.

Excuse me ? I certainly don't take orders from you. I have neither the time nor the inclination to read 24+ pages of fluff and speculation.

In fact it would allow one to transfer the license instantly, and have the license always safe. I wish ALL companies that were planning on pulling a stunt like this would be on ilok.. at least RND did that right.. for as long as their products worked on my OS (it's been years now since even the universal ones worked though, snow leopard was when the issues started), i could install them on any machine i liked.
Nope I did not say anything specifically about iLok but stupid copy protection in general. And this is beyond denial that it is a great reminder how easily even a high profile dev can vanish into thin air. Their plugins are not cheap, and if you include all the libraries, there could theoretically be huge losses for a lot of people. So thank god CA used a sensible method of CP.

But as you brought up the iLok, then yes, if they would use iLok then you would not be able to use your plugins later on. iLok depend entirely on active support on the part of the developer. Any license transfers, re-activations, granting of temporary licenses and so depend on the developer as much as on the PACE. A simple example - if you used soft activation and reinstalled Windows you would have lost a license. Then you would need a new one. Some devs would say GFY others would give you a new one. No dev = no license.
