If I may add a new speculation...the CA downloaded now accessible in the user account is new. VERY new as in v1.00.0.0281. And it integrates all the purchased items (synths, sound banks, etc) into a rather well functioning and streamlined interface.
....and it carries the CA logo.
Perhaps the Camels have not gone away at all.....maybe they are just getting rid of that tired old website.
Ready?
Go!

Just had that same thought as well.deft_bonz wrote:This thread is exploding... maybe it's just some sick try of viral marketing
Would be a pretty shitty move though. Don't hope, that's the case.
Anyways I think it's bad to not communicate.
I mean, they are even on Twitter and Facebook. There is really no excuse for this.

Phew, just coming up for air after 25 pages! Seriously surprised by this, hopefully all of the guys involved are all OK (seems so from comments already made), I guess we'll see what permeates. Alchemy is a top top instrument!

Cakewalk has already bought devs before, like the guys who made z3ta+standalone wrote:Those aren't as unlikely as Avid, Cakewalk or Presonus.
Dimension Pro/Rapture aint that different from Alchemy, both uses SFZ files in sample mangling.
Both Dimension Pro/Rapture is long overdue for an upgrade, why wouldn't Cakewalk save themselves the hassle, get Alchemy, and upgrade that to v2, and discontinue Dim Pro/Rapture and also offer users of those plugs to upgrade to Alchemy v2

Nobody demands this kind of silence than Apple, it's been going on for months but even their sound designers didn't know about it. I did one job for a company that I work for as freelancer (that was hired by Apple) but the company couldn't tell who it was!!!

Yes I have faith that the Camel Audio guys are good people who would never intentionally screw over anyone. I dealt with them a little bit before Tim died and Ben seemed like a top notch gentleman.bluedad wrote: Don't waste your time, Marc.
All speculation, but there's this:Hunter wrote:It's already been said here but hopefully people know the Camel Audio guys are nice enough to not intentionally mess people around. Speculation is human nature though, I guess.
I guess at this point it's just wait and see.
I've been thinking of retiring from music lately and selling Alchemy and Camelspace would have been part of the process. That seems unlikely to be possible now and quite frankly just feels wrong to even think about it at this point.......
I just wish all the best to Ben and everyone at CA. Their products have been a source of great inspiration and joy over the years. I'm more concerned about them right now than how this news will effect me.........

I have signed strict NDAs for stuff far less sensitive than a buyout, so it most certainly not only apple.penguinfromdeep wrote:Nobody demands this kind of silence than Apple, it's been going on for months but even their sound designers didn't know about it. Regarding the rebranding/restructuring that has been mentioned, I doubt that as well. After all, in their statement, CA thanked for the received support over the years. Not something one would do if you'd just come back again.
A buyout seems the most logical explanation. Still sad though, makes you realize how vulnerable your position as a license holder is.

Ok. Assumed too much because of the amount of companies complaining about the consequences of the new rules (myself included btw).whyterabbyt wrote:Absolutely not. Its already been pointed out several times that Camel's turnover and net worth was such that they'd already be VAT registered, and they're large enough to clearly have the resources to deal with MOSS.twolegstoneworks wrote:I suspect the new MOSS act is the cause of this... Thank you so much, EU... we love you so much.
MOSS affects tiny 'hobbyist' business who couldnt possibly afford the required legal and accounting services, not successful businesses with a net worth in the hundreds of thousands.
Cheers.
