Maybe because Cakewalk themselves are not independente, but belong to another company

I assume you mean if they want to retain the name of the flagship product... :hihi:
Oh yes. Good point.
Yes, assuming that.

Cakewalk has already bought devs before, like the guys who made z3ta+
That was ages ago and It was just one guy https://ar.linkedin.com/pub/ren%C3%A9-c ... 42/b49/a50 , he no longer works for them. I purchased Sonar for 29 or 39 dollars some weeks ago, I don't remember it well. Their synths are cheap as chips now too.

Often buyouts happen not because a company wants the actual *products*, but that they want the team and IP behind the products to fill some gaps in their company to work on their own products. This was the case for Apple/Redmatica, for example, and why the Redmatica products were killed immediately the deal went ahead.

So it's not impossible the Alchemy 2 is dead, and CA was bought for Ben and his expertise in the whole granular/additive/resynthesis/engine stuff, which is pretty specialised, rather than Alchemy. I don't expect to see any Namm announcements regarding the CA purchase, personally.

But time will tell...

Post

There is so little information offered. It is clear that the product is not being sold. This says nothing really about the company or the future.

With NAMM a few weeks away it is possible there will be some announcement even leading up to it. Locking their forums is very interesting however. But nothing to read into since they specify that they are offering email support through July 7th.

No matter what happened, I have to admit that not allowing current owners complete their product by purchasing expansion packs is odd, but may be structured into an agreement that has yet to see the light. That would really be the only thing to explain that away since most here have eliminated things like bankruptcy and, um, er, death.

Personally I would love it if Izotope bought it to incorporate into Iris (or Iris into Alchemy would be better).

Alchemy Player CM is still available to download from the CM vault at least

Based on the info on their support site about backing all files up before july 7. there will be no more Camel Audio.
And Alchemy will not show up again as Alchemy.

It really sounds like it is over and out !

Oh, they would f**k that up so bad, you would have to play the notes on the morphing pads and trigger the morphing with keys, and LFOs would randomly decide when to work and why.

What happens to the devs who have made official soundsets sold from the Camel website.

If they earned royalties from that, it is cold turkey for them to now? :(

I think Alchemy was the first or second softsynth I bought, and the first one I "fell in love with." I suppose it will always be something kind of special in my memory.

How do you know piracy was no longer an option when the leeches share every form of "soft" property as if it didn't take someone years of work to put together. There's a soulless, disgusting rot in our society, a lack of respect that goes beyond evolution or economics.
Blaming piracy looks like it might be a good explanation only to self-righteous simple minded moralist.
Step back dude. "Simple minded moralist"? Save the ego for something else.

Anyways I already said all of this in my response to him on the first f**king page.

Would suck for those of us who bought Alchemy knowing 2.0 was just around the bend if we wern't offered an upgrade path anymore.

That is if 2.0 ever sees the light of day of course :(

Sad to see Camel Audio go, they are amongst the golden oldies of the plugin world, first mention in Sound on Sound as far back as 2001:

For a company to keep on going for so long in the rapid changing plugin biz is quite a feat :tu:

Perhaps 2.0 was so amazing all the other plugin devs got together and bought them out :)
