What would be worse if its mac only. All windows users couldn't upgrade if they wanted too. If it is mac or logic whatever, hopefully they have the good sense to release a windows version. But at this point it doesn't even sound like a mac buyout so who knows.

At no point ever did Camel Audio say Alchemy 2 was right around the bend. They refused to share details until it was ready so as to avoid false promises and disappointment. In the case you mentioned above the hypothetical person would be at their own fault.Voice303 wrote:Would suck for those of us who bought Alchemy knowing 2.0 was just around the bend if we wern't offered an upgrade path anymore.
That is if 2.0 ever sees the light of day of course

That's actually the most plausible explanation I've seen so far.Keith99 wrote:Perhaps 2.0 was so amazing all the other plugin devs got together and bought them out

Anyone able to access their libraries from the iOS app? Just reinstalled but the pro libraries seem unavailable.

Well, if there are no more sales, there are no more royalties, if that's how the payment system works.Numanoid wrote:What happens to the devs who have made official soundsets sold from the Camel website.
If they earned royalties from that, it is cold turkey for them to now?
I'm not sure on the agreements sound designers had, but from what I recall, the deal is that Camel buy the soundset outright and it becomes Camel property to market and sell, so existing sound designers will have been paid upfront and there is no outstanding issue.

f**k guys. We have no info except a bit of text informing people when the site will stop serving downloads. All, literally, ALL of this speculation is unfounded. What everybody wants is info, that's exactly what we don't have. So we should stop crazy, ridiculous, absolutely absurd speculations and just wait. Either we will hear what's happened or we won't and it will be forever a mystery. In any case this speculation does literally nothing.

Come on it's still fun and it's human nature to do so I guessKingTuck wrote:f**k guys. We have no info except a bit of text informing people when the site will stop serving downloads. But if CA should cease trading, the rights may revert back to the authors?beely wrote:the deal is that Camel buy the soundset outright and it becomes Camel property to market and sell, so existing sound designers will have been paid upfront and there is no outstanding issue.

It's using reason to find a likely scenario and we seem to have made some ground I think. Agree though, not much more to speculate without more info

Unfortunately, thisolepro wrote:Based on the info on their support site about backing all files up before july 7. there will be no more Camel Audio.
And Alchemy will not show up again as Alchemy.
It really sounds like it is over and out !
Btw if the company was estimated worth 50K£ *previously*, it doesnt mean they have this money in bank, and due to sales stopping, it doesnt also mean its still worth this value . ( As often this is based on annual global income/sales, so when all of this stops, the only thing/value left is code value of the plugs, money in bank accounts minus taxes, salaries and cp etc )
I do hope its not medical worries for the head(s) of CA, it might be as well a fiscal blast or something like that ( Not unusual with small size companies), or a divorce, or anything. But well, it's pretty brutal. I dont believe in CA beeing bought by any major comp, and similar products like Akchemy beeing sold in the future by the buying company, to me financially speaking, it makes very little sense. But actually, we know nothing, so ........

It all depends on the terms of the contract.Numanoid wrote:But if CA should cease trading, the rights may revert back to the authors?beely wrote:the deal is that Camel buy the soundset outright and it becomes Camel property to market and sell, so existing sound designers will have been paid upfront and there is no outstanding issue.

Dunno. I say save the discussions for stuff that has some sort of grounding. Some sort of actual topic. Anyone can throw out anything in this context and get it entertained far more than it's worth IMO. Much of the popularity of this thread is the speculation. If they sent out info as to what happened and what not this thread would likely be far less popular.2ZrgE wrote:KingTuck wrote:In any case this speculation does literally nothing.
Well, this is true for a damn lot of threads. Still people like discussions, so what.
Whatever though, I guess. Different strokes and all.

I bet there won't be any further information for at least 7 days. If I then calculate the amount of posts until then, KVR will also go down due to lack of enough space
