As has already been mentioned (hasn't every theory now?), CA's turnover means they would already be VAT registered and charging VAT on all purchases anyway.

The people most affected by this are the people with small turnovers (eg, 10K-20K a year) currently selling products online without being VAT registered - they are the businesses that are hosed...

"Keeping afloat" doesn't seem to be the issue. Again, please read the thread if you want the facts we know so far. They had good money in the bank, as far as their accounts go.

"We cannot discuss the statement posted on the web site."
Except if that is stated in the terms of the agreement. What about something like:
Both parts commit to not disclose any kind of information publicly or otherwise, until the agreement terms are completely fulfilled, on which date a public oficial announcement will be made by both parts simultaneoulsy?

Would something like that be legal enough?
Except they've already done that. They've already disclosed public information by posting on their site that they're closing.

Adding a simple "This is all we are going to say on the matter" or something to that effect doesn't change anything said prior or invalidate any legal agreement. I know enough lawyers to know that with 100% certainty. A "Cannot discuss" statement breaks no legal contract in this entire world.

Let me put it this way. If I wrote to Camel Audio and asked them why they're closing down, I can almost guarantee that the reply email I get will say "We're sorry but we can't give out any further info."

In fact, I know enough legal loopholes that I could, at the very least, force them to respond with a "no comment".

So having them say nothing at all is beyond mind boggling.

Let them come here and simply tell us that they can't give out any further info (don't have to even say it's for legal or personal reasons) and it'll be over and done with.

Their silence after the announcement without at least that much makes no sense whatsoever from any standpoint unless they simply don't give a crap at this point and don't care about public perception, legacy or whatever.

Even politicians who have been involved in scandal have given statements as to why they're stepping down from office.

This whole thing makes zero sense from both a PR and legal standpoint.

F*ck that probably means this thread will die off :hihi:

Where's the fun when the truth is out and no more speculation can be done :clown:
We could just start a new rumor. Come to think of it, all this talk of Apple has me wondering if they are about to buy KVR. :scared:

Rats this has been a fun read!

I am hopeful, as this is very-uncharacteristic of the company. Surely this spells something positive on the horizon!

KVR drama just rocks. It made me take the day off to be honest

If the site gets updated so it only works in Safari we'll know the answer to that ;)

Dunno for how long though.
Hmmm...I wonder if you'd actually be able to buy them if you clicked to do so. Depends on whether or not the product is in the hands of the 3rd party dealer, or if they link back to CA for the purchase.

MOSS or something? maybe it's that.
I don't expect it's that, there is a way around it - using a reseller who will take care of all the VAT for each country, and take a commission on each sale, and just setting up your e-commerce site to account for different VAT in each country should be possible, but it is a major pain in the arse.

Go on then. Lets see you prove your osmotically-acquired legals skills...

(I'm hoping they're better than your logic.)

I don't know anything... it's just my own assumption (or maybe not) it's just that Camel Audio would never leave their business behind like that without quickly passing information on to their customers about the reason. That wouldn't be logical and not how the Camel's do stuff.

Are camels and drama llamas related, species-wise?

Same thing perhaps?
I really don't understand these developers doing this. Prodyon just stopped selling for the same reason. It really isn't that difficult to sort out, just find a reseller who will take care of the VAT, or update your shopping cart to work it out automatically.

Alright, then I guess everybody can carry on with the baseless speculation.
