so i have an industrial one-man group that i want to expand to have a guitarist. id like to do a liveset in the near future.

i use fruityloops to write my songs. i use alot of vocal effects, obviously. i can go without them generally but there are some parts that really need them.

my idea was to render each track without vocals, and do the vocals my self and have the guitarist do guitar live. but i have two problems:

1. i dont know what host i should use to line up tracks like a playlist with specific time spaces in between each track

2. is there a program that will atatch vsts to an input at specific times in the tracks? i know thats kind of asking alot  or atleast i think, but if there is such a device it would make my life a whole lot easier, it would make the whole show idea very much more doable.

thanks in advance..

also if you had any alternative suggestions that would be great

I had the idea of using EnergyXY inside ORION with each instance of it containing an entire song. Then I would use the Playlist to sequence the set by putting a single pattern for each EnergyXT, one after the other. That way you wouldn't need to render anything [because that is clearly cheating]. If you're using distortion on your vocals I'd recommend getting a Behringer X V-Amp - the're cheap and offer 16 different kinds of distortion [amp simulations] as well as reverb, delay, chorus, etc. Its a piece of cake to set up to use live and it just works.[/b]

Well you can do what youre asking with fruity except for vsts being timed to operate at specific points on the audio input.

However, if youre thinking about investing some money Ableton live can do exactly what you want.
As a small example you could jam with the VST effects over your guitarists input, not just tweaking knobs but also triggering different VSTs together or separately. Not only that you can arrange all these effects automations into patterns like you would any normal midi data, so essentially have blocks or loops that can be set to come on at a certain time or you can trigger them manually. Would be cool, every time you performed a particular song it could be exactly the same if thats what you wanted or completely different.

Havent made that very clear have I
