People who sell out and agree to terms that lead to a situation where their customers get screwed, aren't somehow victims of "a nasty world". They're part of what makes the world "nasty".

I understand cashing and selling out. Their product, their work, their choice. But I don't understand doing it in a way that feels deceptive (doing a sale when the future was known to them) or that involves terms where the customers are left in the dark and get the very short end of the stick.

That isn't what "nice guys" do.

(All assuming that this is what went down. We don't know.)

Haven't seen so much drama and suspense in a forum since... well... can't remember :)

But they can't say anything I'm sure they feel very bad inside by reading these posts now but that's how Apple is
circuit modeling and 0-dfb filters are cool

If following post is true people don't believe 'They're nice guys, good guys' compliment...
I just made a polite post over in the Camel Audio section, asking what happened and what will happen if we wish to reinstall on a new PC/Mac at some future stage..will the software be activated or be redundant after the July date. Within minutes that post seems to have been deleted. I've looked and my post isn't showing anywhere..I even used the "Display Post" feature at the bottom of the page to search for it based on the time of post and it's not there.

It seems certain questions are not allowed to be asked..or, at the very least, aren't going to be answered.

Shame..I honeslty thought they had more integrity than that!

So much poo.

Let's just wait to see what gets squeezed out in the near future...

If they can't say anything, it is because they voluntarily agreed to terms that have that result. Blaming Apple, if Apple has anything to do with this, ignores that aspect.

Is it already established that they were bought by Apple? :o

Bear in mind that if the hunch that an IP sale has gone through, it's no longer Camel Audio as you knew it calling the shots. It's the new owner.

I would always blame Apple. It seems right and gives you a nice feeling.

In other words, there's absolutely no reason not to blame Apple.

Their website is theirs. Domain owner isn't changed. Nameserver isn't changed. If the owner of our registration data changed it were informed to customers, not musicradar.com.

I'm apple fan, and I don't mind actually if Camel Audio was gobbled by Apple. I just know how draconian they are with these things (I have first hand experience since I did freelance work for a company that was hired by them)

Come on, this is high even for the KVR standarts :D

Anyway... I just hope that when the new owner of the IP releases Alchemy2 or whatever the new name would be, the existing Alchemy customers will have some kind of discount.
Hope Ben managed to negotiate this. Probably it will calm down the spirits a little bit.

I hope it's not Apple for their sake. When you've worked in a nice small setup with lots of autonomy and you give in to the money and security of a big faceless organisation it doesn't matter what they offer you upfront, in the end you will find yourself managed by a bread head who neither understands nor cares what you do or why you do it. It's like a pact with the devil.
Would you like some cheese with that WHINE?
