But i was the one that got smoked.
You are operating under the assumption you can find a buyer. I think you'll be hard-pressed to find someone willing to purchase a second-hand license from a company that has publicly announced they are no longer selling any kind of software and have closed up shop.

Nope, i think if i get the official "ok" it will sell like hotcakes, especially to a windows EU user.. no vat, no compatibility issues for a looooong time. And if it doesn't, what different position would i be in to now? Nothing ventured nothing gained. There have already been multiple posts in this very topic ( i read every single page) that wish they could still buy it.
I might buy it if the price was right and if I could be 100% sure that it would even work if I installed it.

Honestly, CA closing up shop has me a little bit skittish about diving into this even IF they personally said it was okay.
well that's what i had sad in my sales topic, that it was 100% risk free, had to install and work. But it has to be all or nothing the way i see it, ie everything in the account.
I just got confirmation from CA I can transfer my Alchemy license. The buyer just needs to have a account at CA already.
So, support is running to the extent that license transfers can be handled, but not that NEW user accounts can be created?

The plot thickens.

So I guess this would be a good time for some library sales ;-)

If money would have been the issue, wouldn't they just try to raise some? Like having a huge sale/presale or a kickstarter or something like that?

Buyout is the only thing that makes at least some sense so far.
Otherwise I can only think of rather bad stuff.

Curiouser and curiouser... ;-)

If there weren't any financial problems, why should they make a buyout? Doesn't make much sense...

Maybe they had some legal problems, and the new EU tax rules had an impact, too?

There are a ton of reasons for a company to want to sell, even in good health. Some people even put companies together with the sole purpose of making it as big as they can in their niche in hopes that a larger company will buy them out. I heard that Camel Audio was talking to a larger company a year ago?

Hello? Is anybody paying attention around here?

tonkatodd has the first (?) confirmed (?) communication from Camel Audio Towers in this thread, no?

Post

Damn I went to a Doctor's appointment and am now a dozen pages behind..........oh well most likely 12 pages of fluff (and the good news is it looks like I don't have a Brain Tumor) everything beyond that seems of little importance, a good day indeed.........

Anyway I don't know if this has been asked before but is Camel Audio a publicly traded company ? ( I tend to think no ) If not then it couldn't be a hostile take over. Some big company couldn't just come in and buy up a majority of the stock and then kick everybody out. So if it is a buyout (speculation) it was an amicable arrangement.

I did read a few pages back that anyone would accept such a buyout if it set them and their family up for life. I for one can say hell yes....if you make an offer I shouldn't refuse then I'm going to take it but I'd like to think that I would have the morals to not screw over the people who have supported me and I'm willing to bet Ben has those same morals and won't screw current users either.
