This is not that serious. It just one plug in. Yeah, it sux they closed, but we can live just fine without this one plugin. In case your computer dies and you do not have the installer- oh, well. Will use other hundreds of plugins. I have it for a year- I used it may be five times. You talking about it like your favorite pet died and you want to preserve the body in formaldehyde to have memories of it. No tragedy. There will be more plugins. I keep buying them and so far I was not able to have them all.

well fine i backed up the Alchemy installer and luckily found a way to make all presets work without having any correct licence information about.
it is still sad, they they closed doors that way and we wont see Alchemy V2 relized by Camel Audio.
what are good alternatives if one day the vsts wont work anymore? (should not be in close future i think.)

Yeah, this is one plugin, and there are people who will use it no matter the company works or not.Astralv wrote:This is not that serious. It just one plug in. And if the installer dies, or some soundbanks,
you can always grab the entire pack for free (I mean w*rez ).
So backup or not, Alchemy will be available forever
Final thought:
if someone owns and really use some plugins for music making,
sooner or later he/she will end up using unsupported tools - this is the case.
There's no point in buying all the new plugins and stop using the old ones.

Well, on Windows you have a right to expect that your software will work at least 12 years. This is absolutely a minimum. 12 years is the time Microsoft will support an operating system. In practice you actually have a right to expect even longer lifetime as MS (unlike Apple) puts a lot of effort into compatibility from OS version to version.whyterabbyt wrote:This. People need to get used to the fact that a five-year compatibility lifespan is the best they have a right to expect from software unless they're prepared to freeze the spec of their system. yes, some stuff will last longer, especially on Windows where, unlike Apple, MS actually put some effort into making sure of it, but operating systems and DAWs are a moving target and its a small, volatile, niche industry with no guarantees.Compyfox wrote:I am surprised that certain tools from like 5 years back still work on my rig.
(Of course, the companies most likely to be able to keep compatibility going further down the line are the biggest ones, ie those the average KVR morlock is most likely to spend his time bitching about for being 'too expensive' etc etc)
The most likely reason for software to stop working long-term is failing copy protection and this is not a technical problem but one completely arbitrary created by developers.

Weren't CA into charity? If you're desperate to use the plugin, donate an equivalent amount to one of their favorite organizations and download it with a clear conscience.dune_rave wrote: Yeah, this is one plugin, and there are people who will use it no matter the company works or not.
